Melina and Thomas had a daughter while living in Waubaushene. The youngfamily then returned to their birthplace in about 1883. Their next sixchildren - all sons - were born in St-Emelie-de-l'Energie through 1892. Melina and Thomas also became godparents to her cousin Marie-Jeanne ARBOUR in March 1888 in St-Emelie-de-l'Energie. The couple was later recorded living there with four sons during the1891 Census, when Thomas was reported to be a farmer. In 1893 or 1894, the family then moved backtoWaubaushene, where their eighth child - another son - was born. Whilein Simcoe County, they also became godparents to nephew Ovila BOURDON in Midland in December 1894. It is unknown for sure what happened to them after this time. They are believedto have moved to Toronto, possibly around 1895

Little Fred moved with his family to Ontario when he was about three-years old. As a young man, Fred stood witness at the weddings of two of his sisters. He was in Waubaushene in January 1882 when Minnie was married. He was also there when Natalie was married in October 1883. After their wedding, the young millhand Fred and his wife settled in Penetanguishene, where they had 11 children with onlyone son among them. Quite obviously, their large family contributed to the growth ofthe city of Penetanguishene, which grew to over 2000 residents by 1895. They also served as godparents to six family youngsters: nephew Henry BOURDON in June 1887 in Midland, nephew Albert ARBOUR in December 1894 in Midland, nephew Bert ARBOUR in December 1894 in Midland, niece Veronica ARBOUR in February 1907 inMidland, granddaughter Lucie BEAUSOLEIL (Fred only) in June 1908 in Penetanguishene, and granddaughter Stella BEAUSOLEIL in July 1909 in Penetanguishene. In 1889, just acouple of years after their wedding, Fred and Mary saw the first three streetlights in Penetanguishene. By 1910, electric services were available to virtually the entire community. The family was reported as living in Penetanguishene both in1891 and in 1901. In 1901, Fred earned $350 as one of the 60 millhands at the McGibbon Lumber Mill. They probably lived in Penetanguishene forthe rest of their years.

After their wedding, Xavier and Louise settled in Waubaushene, where their first few children were born. By 1901, they had moved to the town of Midland. In the 1901 Census, the young couple lived on Sturgeon Bay Road in Midland with three of their children in a one-story, five-room house on a regular city lot. Xavier earned $300 that year at the mill. Eleven children were eventually born into Xavier and Louise's home, six daughters and five sons. Showing a poet's heart, Xavier wrote in cousin Annie Belle ARBOUR's autograph book: "Dear Annie Belle: Apples are sweet, Peaches are better, Ifthis verse does not suit you, Try and do better. Xavier ARBOUR," dated9 May 1897. Xavier and Louise eventually moved away from rural Simcoe County to settle in the big city of Toronto in about 1915. They livedonDowling Avenue when Louise died at home in 1957.

07 April 1869 -- Francois-Xavier ARBOUR was the 5th child of 13 and namesake of Francois-Xavier ARBOUR and his wife Natalie DESMARAIS. He was born in Belle Ewart, Ontario, during his family's 7-year stop there on their way from Joliette County, QC,to Waubaushene, ON. On 19 September 1892, Xavier married 20-year old Marie-Louise GRENIER at St Croix Catholic Church in LaFontaine, ON. Louise's family had been among the first people befriended by Xavier's parents upon their arrivalin Ontario. Louise's parents served as godparents to Xavier's younger sister Rosanna in July 1871. After their wedding, Xavier and Louise settled in Waubaushene, where their first few children were born. By 1901, they had moved to the town ofMidland. In the 1901Census, the young couple lived on Sturgeon Bay Roadin Midland with 3 of their children in a one-story, 5-room house on a regular city lot. Xavier earned $300 that year at the mill. Eleven children were eventually born into Xavier and Louise's home,6daughters and 5 sons. On 9 June 1887, 12-year old Joseph, along with several of his cousins, was confirmed into the Catholic Church by Reverend John Joseph LYNCH, Archbishop of Toronto, while in Waubaushene. He then witnessed the marriage of his brother Xavierin September 1892 in LaFontaine. In April 1893, he became godfather to nephew Omer BOURDON in Midland. As young adults but before their own marriage, Joseph and Vitaline FOURNIER stood witness at his younger brother Peter's wedding in August1897 at St Margaret's in Midland. After their wedding, Joseph and Vitaline settled in Waubaushene, where their first four children were born. In April 1901, the family lived in a house on his father's property, just outside Waubaushene. Theyhad their first two daughters by the time the census takercame around and their third daughter was born just a few days later. Joseph earned $384 that year at the mill. In 1903, they moved to Victoria Harbour, where they appear to have remained for the rest of their lives. Joseph and Vitaline eventually had 10 children in all, seven daughters and three sons. Throughout his life, Joseph worked as a farmer, sawyer, and general laborer.

On 16 June 1891, 14-year old Peter, along with his brother Baptiste,was confirmed into the Catholic Church by Reverend John McABLE, Archbishop of Toronto, while at St Margaret's in Midland. Peterand Philomene's lives are a tragic love story. Initially, Peter's younger brother Baptiste made a play for Philomene, but when Peter saw her, he as much as told his brother to move over, that she wasthe one for him. There were no hard feelings as Peter and Baptiste were the best of friends. Philomene was apparently quite the charmer. She loved to laugh and was full of life. Peter, a rough carpenter and general laborer, and Philomene hadfive children. In 1901, the young couple and their first daughter lived with Philomene's parents and eightof her siblings in a five-room house in Tay Township - the quintessential crowded house! Peter earned $330 that year at the mill. Shortly thereafter, they seem to have moved into their own house in Victoria Harbour, where their four other childrenwere born. Philomene then contracted a kidney ailment known as Bright's Disease or nephritis. She died at the age of 32, leaving her husband with five children, ages 2 to 11. Hilda, the oldest of them at age 11, helped to raise the family. AlthoughPhilomene was reportedly buried inSt Mary's Cemetery in Victoria Harbour, the cemetery transcriptions for St Mary's make no mention of her. Further, theburial register at St Margaret's in Midland says that she died on 25 May 1910 in Victoria Harbourand was buried in St Margaret's Cemetery. However, the cemetery transcriptions for St Margaret's alsomake no mention of Philomene. The Archives of Ontario does confirm her death in Victoria Harbour on 25 May 1910. In fact, the mystery of Philomene's final resting-place has persisted for many years. Bert, son of Peter and Philomene, is remembered by his widow Jessie as searching for his mother's gravesite for all of hisadult life, to noavail. Apparently, it was such a sad and painful subjectfor Peter that he never spoke of it to his children, who were all so young at the time of their mother's death. In the winter following her death, Peter did not work near their home inVictoria Harbour.Instead,he walked from there across the ice towork on the building of the grain elevators. He left on Monday mornings and came home on Friday nights. In between, anything the children needed was put on a "chit" at the company store and paid for when Peter returned. After Philomene's death,thechildren were taken under the wing of their Auntie Dellie, wife oftheir Uncle Baptiste. She gave the two boys, Lawrence and Herbie, odd jobs to do, like stacking wood, and in turn gave the family freshly-baked pies. A cleaning lady came in once a weekto do the heavy work. The family remained faithful and loyal to each other all their lives, each helping the other. The girls Hilda and Leda eventually found work in Toronto and were later followed by their brother Lawrence. At the age of 13, son Herbie, along with his little sister Delima, were moved to Hamilton, Ontario, by their father and into a boarding house. Peter then worked in construction down in Niagara Falls, again returning only on weekends. Peter was once asked about thehouse in Victoria Harbour, from which he had simply walked away. He said that when Philomene died, the house had no meaning. Peter did get to see his children grow and begin families of their own. In his later years, he lived with his eldest daughterHildaand her family in Hamilton. When Peter died, he was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, located in nearby Burlington, Ontario, in anunmarked grave, according to his wishes.

On 16 June 1891, 13-year old Baptiste, along with brother Peter, wasconfirmed into the Catholic Church by Reverend John McABLE, Archbishopof Toronto, while at St Margaret's in Midland. He then witnessed his brother Joseph's wedding in VictoriaHarbour in May 1898. In April 1901, Baptiste still lived with his parents in Waubaushene. He earned $210 that year at the mill. In May 1902, he becamegodfather to his niece Myrtle BOURDON in Midland. Baptiste and Dellie did not have any children oftheir own. However, they did serve as godparents to nephew Herbert ARBOUR in July 1905 and to niece Irene ARBOUR in January 1910, both in Midland. They also became sort of surrogate parents to their five young nieces and nephews, children of Baptiste's closest brother Peter. Peter's wife died when the eldest of the children was 11-years old and their Auntie Dellie took them under her wing. Furthermore, Baptiste and Dellie also appear to have taken in a family youngster by the name of Gloria.Itis unclear how she fits into the family tree. Perhaps she was the result of a teenage indiscretion within the family. Auntie Dellie seems to have been a family favorite. In addition to being a terrific baker, shewas also very artistic and crafty. Dellie won first prize at the Toronto Exhibition in about 1926 for a dollhouse she built and decorated herself. The little house was then proudly displayed in her parlor, complete with the big first-prize ribbon. It is unknown when or where Dellie died. However, she seems to have passed away before Baptiste moved in with his niece Hilda LeNESTOUR, with whom he lived during his later years in Hamilton, Ontario.

In 1901, Charles still lived with his parents in Waubaushene. The teenager earned $154 that year at the mill. In January 1903, he witnessedhis brother Baptiste's wedding in Victoria Harbour. In October 1906, he witnessed his sister Delia's wedding, also in Victoria Harbour.

Charles and Lina had a son, Edward, who was born in Victoria Harbour. They also seem to have taken in a son of the family, who became knownas Uncle Fred. Later, the family moved to northern Ontario and settledin the North Bay area in 1929.

Charles lived at 363 Aberdeen Avenue at the time of his death in 1966. He died in a local hospital as the result of a heart attack following a lengthy illness. While he actually attended the Pro-Cathedral of the Assomption Church, he was buried in St Mary's Cemetery in North Bay. Lina predeceased him at some point.

In August 1905, Delia and her future husband, John LORMAND, witnessed the wedding ofDelia'scousin Thomas ARBOUR and John's sister Delia LORMAND in Victoria Harbour. Perhaps this is how they met. After their wedding, Delia and John set up house in Victoria Harbour and appear to have remained there for the rest of their lives. Beginning just one month after the birth of their eldest child, they became godparents to three family youngstersin Midland: niece Adeline ARBOUR in October 1907, nephew Stanley BOURDON in February 1908, and niece Flora ARBOURin July 1908.Delia and John alsohad nine children of their own. Delia tragically died in St Andrew's Hospital in Midland after childbirth in 1924. A horrible family story alludes to the fact that John was not a kind man and frequently beat his wife. Onthis particular occasion, Johnreportedly kicked Delia, causing severe injuries and a premature birth. This tale is confirmed with the information received in her death registration certificate. While Delia's life was eventually ended by a bloodclot, 12 days earlier she sufferedileus, which is severe abdominal trauma. There is no doubt that this was caused by John kicking her. How hecould do such a thing is a complete mystery. Delia's injuries were further complicated by what thedoctors termed a "miscarriage" although herbaby girl was born alive. In any event, the young mother was buried inVictoria Harbour in St Mary's Cemetery, next to her baby daughter and beside her mother. John later found a stepmother for theirchildren. However, Marguerite GIROUX also hada reputation among the family for not being very well-liked.

After their wedding, Hilda and Charlie set up their home in Penetanguishene, where the population was 3,664 in 1920. There they had six children, four daughters and two sons, who were all born in Penetanguishene. Charlie was a firefighter with the Penetanguishene Volunteer Fire Department. In 1916 or 1917, their team won the Simcoe County Championship among volunteer fire brigades.

Oddly, a Baby Girl MARCHILDON, who died in 1970, is also buried with Hilda and Charlie in their polt in St Ann's Cemetery. Perhaps she was a granddaughter or a great-granddaughter.

She was baptised in St Ann's Church by Reverend Theophile Laboureau on 28August 1898. Father Laboureau and Agnes Lalonde stood as Godparents. The family must have had close ties to the Father Laboureau to have asked him and for the Priest to have accepted the honour of Godparent.

I was visiting Penetanguishene a few years ago and called a "Kaus" in the local phone book. It turned outto be Charles Kaus' son, Charlie. We met and talked for an hour and then he just blurted out "I remember your grandfather, how long has been dead". My reply was Oh, he's still living (1994). Then Charlie said "and, I remember his first wife".I think the stunned look on my face was enough for him to stop talking. He wouldn't say anything else. One month later while visiting my grandmother's sister I asked her about this "story". She confirmed that my grandfather andZita were married in Detroit. My great aunt's explanation for the split up was a little on the "shady" side. She claimed that while my grandfather was out working on the great lakes (on the ships) Zita would "see" other men. I, of course, have no proof ofthis, just my great aunt'swords. I have found no divorce papers. At that time, 1926, if you wanted a divorce you would have to petition the Queen of England. I'm sure this would have not been the case, as my Grandmother, Adeline and Grandfather were very "hush, hush" abouttheir family history. Last year, while at a funeral, in Penetanguishene, a cousin mentioned that she would remember when my grandparents would come to townthey didn't go anywhere inpublic and their children,apparently, weren't allowed to say who theirparents were. This cousin says that Zita and my grandfather had two children (Joan and John (twins)). She may have her info mixed up as John Frederick Kaus had a daughter who had twins by that name. I could only imagine that if my grandfatherhad found out that "I KNEW" his secret...OH, MY!!

On 27 Apr 1921, Stanley traveled to the US via Sault Sainte Marie, MI. He claimed that he had been with his wife at 183 Pine St, Sault Sainte Marie, ON, and that he was going to visit his uncle Albert LEBLANC c/o Baker Company in Green Bay, WI. Stanley was noted to be 5' 8 1/2" with a medium complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. He was a clerk with $100 in his pocket.

On 24 Dec 1921, Stanley returned to the US via the port of Sault SainteMarie, MI. He had been visiting his wife in Sault Sainte Marie, ON, at183 Pine Ave, and was headed for Green Bay, WI, to stay for 3 weeks with his uncle Albert LEBLANC.He was noted as being 5'8" tall with a medium complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. Uncle Bert and Aunt Bertha had 4 children. One died at only a few yearsof age, one died in infancy - They were Albert and Edgbert and are buried at Mount Hope in Toronto. I never knew them. Two morechildren were born - Austin and Jacqueline- Both are also dead now. Austin died about7 years ago, and Jacqueling died 2 years ago, last September. She is buried at St Patrick's Church Cemetery withher parents on the Gore Road.Austin is buried in Scarborough and his children do havechildren, butIdonot know the new generation. Christopher lives in New Brunswick, Audrey lives near Barrie andBunnie lives in Markham. I never knew Uncle Bert had other names. Bertha was my mother's sister, next to her in age.She was always special to me. I did meet Austin, Sr. and Loretto Arbour, but none of the others that I recall, although I heard several names. Austin was like a big brother to us and we always enjoyed going to visittheir little house on Eversfield St,north from Rogers Rd. Times were hard for them in many ways both from the loss of 2 little boys and the economic times of the 30s and 40s. Austin, born in 1930 became the light of their lives and his sister, Jacqueline, born a few years later in1934, adored her big brother. Austin was trained by his Uncle Austin Arbour and became a top-notch andhonest auto mechanic. Jacqueline had a difficult home birth as I have been told which may have contributed to some physical and learning difficulties. She loved her brother, and both her parents, also my parents. She had a great sense of humour and lovedbeing the centre of attention. And all her life she had a great feeling for little children, especially babies. She was both an aunt and agreataunt and often spoke about them. The family lived in 2 other places that I can recall, before moving to Castlemore, on The Gore Rd, to help care for my grandparents, James and Bertha (O'Leary) Byrne.Uncle Bert was not well and died not too longafter the move c. 1960. Aunt Bertha, Austin, and Jacqueline stayed with Jim and Bertha. Austin left when he married Audrey. Grandpa died first (1962) andseveral years later, Grandma. The property was sold andBertha and Jacqueline moved into the city tocare for an elderly lady who had been a neighbour in Castlemore. Bertha died in 1984 and Jacqueline eventually went to live in care with a woman named, Cecile, for almost 20 years. From there she went to Long Term Care where she died in September2009. Austin had died in July 2000,and was sorely missed by his wife, Audrey, children, Bunnie, Christopher, Audrey, and the grandchildren (whom I do not know).

Although he was assigned to the 157th Battalion, Lance Corporal ARBOUR never got very far fromhome. On 7 September 1916, he was determined to be "medically unfit," due to intestinal absorption,which caused him great pain during marching and other activities.

Sailed on the "Julienne" from Quebec to New York, NY, departing on 27 Nov 1917 and arriving on 28 Dec 1917. He worked aboard the ship as a Firefighter and was noted to be 5'5" and 135 lbs.

Upon entering the US at Detroit, MI, on 14 May 1925, he was noted to be5'5" with a medium complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. He had $165 in his pocket and planed to relocate permanently to the US.

In Nov 1933, Edgie was apparently the informant upon the death of Violet's mother:

Shortly thereafter, the young couple decided to make the move to the US, as other ARBOURs had done before them.Upon entering the US at Detroit, Michigan, on 14May 1925, Edgie was noted to be 5'5" with a medium complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. He had $165 inhis pocket and planned to relocate permanently to the US. It is unknown if they had any children. In1937, Violet was buried in a grave inSt Margaret's Catholic Cemetery in Midland. What circumstances brought her there, we do not know. Once more, Edgie decided to marry; however, we know nothing of this woman, except that Edgie is noted as being married at the time of his father's death in Sep 1945. Having left his sailing days behind him when he moved inland to Michigan, Edgie took up the machinist's trade, where he seems to have worked from 1924 until his retirement. Edgie died in Michigan in Nov 1995, at the age of 98.

On 10 July 1922, Pearl married Thomas Henry FITZGERALD in Victoria Harbour, ON. Thomas was a youngfarmer also from the Waubaushene area. Pearl and Thomas had 2 children: Mary Edna and Henry. While Mary Edna is confirmed to have married, very little is known of either of them; as a result, it is also unknown of Pearl and Thomas have any further generations of descendants. Thomas died in 1969 and Pearl died in Midland, ON, on 19 March 1971. They wereburied next to each other in St Margaret's Catholic Cemetery in Midland.

Hilda was only 11-years old when her mother died. The young woman then became care-giver for her family. She even wrote and sent pictures faithfully to their maternal grandparents in the west. Shortly after their wedding, Hilda and Louis moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where they had five children, four daughters and one son. As they were establishing theirfamily, Hilda's elderly father moved in with them. In later years, Hilda's Uncle Baptiste also moved in with them to share his final days. Auntie Hilda was known for her more-the-merrier attitude. A visitor couldnot simply stop in; they had to stay for a meal. Hilda always made everyone feel welcome and considered no visitor a mere guest, as all were family. At their home in Hamilton,Hilda and Louis were neighbors of James and Eliza NAYLOR. James and Eliza had two daughters, Emily and Jessie. Hilda, Eliza, and Emily were all very good friends. Younger sister Jessie also became a close friend of one of the ARBOURs, Hilda's brotherBert. 30 April 1901 -- Born in Victoria Harbour, Ontario, Florence Leda ARBOUR was the 2nd of 5 children of mill worker Pierre ARBOUR and his wife Philomene StAMAND. Leda was just 9 when her mother passed away. She thenassisted her older sister Hilda incaring for their younger siblings while their father worked. Leda was about 19 when she married Ernest Percy CONNERS in Toronto. Leda and Ernie then welcomed 9 children into their home, 4 daughters and 5 sons. Throughout the years from late 1923 toearly 1943, this growing family struggled financially. Ernie worked as aTruck Driver (Nov 1928, Sep 1929, Sep 1931), a Fruit Peddler (Sep 1932), "On Relief" (Sep 1935), and Shipbuilder (Jan 1943). Commensurately, the family moved around quite a bit,living in at least 21 places during these 19 years. True tragedy struck this family on 15 July 1939. On that day, 9-year old Allan was playing around on the roof of his 2-storyschool before plunging 30 feet to his death. Although Ernie was alreadyan alcoholic before this incident, he no doubt stepped up his drinking to drive away the pain, which of course only contributed to the family's continued misery. Leda died in 1975. It is unclear when or where Ernie passed away. Although 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild are known for this couple, they likely have more.

During his teenage years, Lawrence went to the big city of Toronto to secure work and build himself a life. Lawrence later moved to Hamilton, Ontario, and seems to have stayed there the rest of his life.

On 7 Feb 1924, Lawrence is believed to have traveled to the US, crossing at Port Huron, MI. He claimed that he was coming from the home of hisfather Peter ARBOUR, 483 John St N, Hamilton, ON, to hisfriend Arthur CHALUT, 402 Stand St, Flint,MI. Lawrence was a carpenter's apprentice who carried $50 in his pocket. He was noted to be in good health, 5' 11"with a medium complexion, brown hair, andbrown eyes. He was never in the US before this time but it is difficult to read how long he plannedtostay. One interesting note is that he was recorded as being single, even though his marriage date shows he had already wed Clarabelle in Jan1923.

As Herbie was only five when his mother died, his formative years became the responsibility of his 10- and 12-year old sisters. As they were just children themselves and trying to go to school while maintaining a household, it was no wonder that little Herbie sometimes got away with a more than he should. The mischievous imp often walked along the Hogg's Bay Trestle, jumping in rain barrels to avoid oncoming trains. He regularly stole the eggs from the chicken coup, egging others on as he showed them how to drill holes in the shell and suck out the raw egg. He often told the story of jumping out of the window in the lunchroom at school to avoid being vaccinated. He also got slivers in his feet from the boardwalks because he did not like wearing his shoes. Herbie even tried to avoid the priest, who constantly reminded him that he missed him at mass and that he had not been to confession.
Herbie also had fond memories of the year he and his best friend and cousin Phil LARMAND both received sleds for Christmas. The wonderful times they had sliding down the large snow-covered hills nearhis home! These are what shined in the life of the little boy who had to work to helpsupport his family. He and his brother Lawrence would stack wood for his favorite aunt and godmother, Aunt Deli. And the blueberry pies she baked in payment for a job well-done made it all worthwhile.
At age 13, Herbie and his younger sister Adeline were moved to a boarding house in Hamilton, as their father had secured work in the Niagara Falls area. Shortly after moving there, Herbie crossed thepicket line atMacDonald's Printing to apply for ajob and was retained as a printer's apprentice. It was during this juncture that he changed his name to the more adult-sounding Bert.
One day in 1926, while visiting his older sister Hilda, Bert met a young English Protestant woman who would change his life forever. Jessie NAYLOR was the daughter of a friend of Hilda's. Bert married Jessie just a few months later. Bert andJessie had two daughters, whom they raised in their mother's Anglican faith.
While living in Hamilton, Bert was often visited by his best friend Phil LARMAND. Phil was working on the boats and would stop in to visit whenever they were docked in Hamilton.
Every year, Bert returned to Victoria Harbour to search the local cemeteries to find the grave of his mother Philomene. Her burial site has never been located and this weighed very heavily on Bert.

Herbie ARBOUR and Phil LARMAND were the best of friends growing up. They constantly dared and challenged each other. One of their past-times was racing along the wooden boardwalk barefoot in the Harbour, then pulling the slivers out of each other'sfeet. Another involved the rolling of a metal wheel, propelled by a stick to see who could make it go the fastest. Likely their parents would have been horrified if they knew where some of their adventures took them. In the summer they walked acrossthe train trestle that spanned Hogg's Bay. This was extremely dangerous as they had to jump in rain barrels along side the track whenever a train came. The two were also known to be truant from school, especiallyif the nurse was there to vaccinate. Their parents must have known they were "two peas in a pod" as one year for Christmas they both got the same present, a sleigh to ride down the hills near Victoria Harbour.
At the age of 13 or 14, Bert and his sister Adeline were moved to a boarding house in Hamilton, but returned to the Village for visits. As soon as Bert had said his polite hellos he was off and running down the street to find Phil.
In the early part of their marriage, Bert and Jessie had a home on Bay Street, near the Hamilton Harbour. They often walked down to the docks to see if Phil's ship had come in. If so, they would invite him back totheir house where the two would talk till all hours of the night starting off in English and ending up in French. Jessie left the two at the kitchen table and went to bed, but she said you could hear the two laughing at each other's stories till the wee hours. Jessie referred to Phil as being a wonderful man and Bert's best buddy. She was never aware the two were first cousins. She also remembered on one occasion, Phil invited them aboard his ship for a tour and dinner. Like many friendships, contact dwindled to yearly visits, until they completely lost touch. Jessie never even met Phil's wife Alma.

She suffered from seizures and was possibly adiabetic. The seizures were thought to have been caused by a kidney ailment (perhaps she inherited problems from her mother). My grandmother Jessie used to say that it upset Grandpa that she was always pregnant, as the doctors had warned her that having children was extremely hard onher health.

He became known as "Uncle Fred" to all of Edward's children. When Fred passed away, his obituary mentioned that he was a brother to Douglas J. From grandson Robb ARBOUR on 01 Mar 2007: Ronald S. Arbour was born on 4 July 1920, in the Canadian city of Sault Ste. Marie. He came to America with his parents and lived in Waukesha, WI, until he was 5 years oldand then moved to Detroit, MI. Before WWII, he was a night watchman ina cemetery. When the war came, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Valparaiso, IN. Soon after, he became a Sergeant/Gun Instructor and was re-stationed in Macon, GA. He had a total of 40 months in service. Ronald and Helen married in 1942 and proceeded to have four children. After the war, he became a plumber's assistant while studying at Lawrence Tech. He got a degree in Drafting and started working for Detroit Cut Stone, a company he would later own. He sold the company in 1982, but stayed on theirpayroll for 9 more months before retiring. Ron and Helen lived on Pingree in Detroit for their first five years of marriage.Some of Ronald's friends were former members of Detroit's Purple Gang.This street was later the height of destruction during the 1967 Detroit riots. In 1948, they moved to 740 Meadowdale in Ferndale, MI. They bought this house for $10,800.00 and raised their family there. Helen started working for the J.L. Hudson company in 1961 and worked there untilshe retired in 1984. Ronald and Helen owned their Ferndale house until1998, when they sold the house and moved back totheir 40-acre farm in Chesaning, MI, which Helen's parents sold to them in 1968. Ronald livedthere until he passed away from Parkinson's Disease on 8 November 2006. Helen still resides there.

Murray and Germaine continued to live in Oakville when their three daughters were born. The family lived there until 1968. Murray then left his job as a supervisor and returned with his family to Midlandin an effort to simplify their lives. Therehe worked for RCA and then Mitsubishi Electronics before retiring in 1993. She will also be remembered by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law Lou (Geri), David (Betty).
