Escanaba (AP) -- Four persons drowned Sunday night when a motorboat carrying six persons on a holiday outing capsized on Green Bay five miles south of Escanaba Harbour. Two survivors, who clung to the boat for 10 hours, were picked up today by a passing ore carrier, the Frontenac. Sheriff deputies identified the dead as William Hamm, 26, his wife Elaine, 25, and David Clarence Arbour, 2, all of Escanaba, and Miss Jeanne McClinchey, 32, of Hulbert. The survivors were Mr. and Mrs.Clarence Arbour, parents of the dead boy and owners of the boat. Arbour held the bodyof his son when he was rescued. Arbour and his wife were taken to Escanaba Hospital for treatment of shock and exposure. Arbour said the party left Sunday for a 24-mile trip toWashington Island and ran out of gas. He said the boat capsized while the party was transferring fuel fromthe can to the engine. The Frontenac brought in the two survivors and the body of one of the victims. A fishing tug brought in the other two bodies.
