    Notes:

Will was tall and thin and even died his hair. Although his hair was naturally red, the dying gave it a "purple look." He was always quite proud of his wavy head of hair. According to the 1881 Census, Will and Lizzie's fathers, Basile and Joseph, had homes near each other. Will and Lizzie probably grew up together as friends. Unfortunately, though, their friendship did not last, as Lizzie died young, at the birth of their son in 1897. After Lizzie's death, Will returned with young Howard to live with his parents for a time. He was still there in April 1901 at the time of the Census. In fact, little Howard was seemingly raised by his grandparents Basile and Jane and was even recorded as being their sonin the Census.

Will and second wife Ellen settled in Waubaushene, where they had threechildren, one daughter and two sons, at the registration of whom, Will's occupation was listed as laborer and millhand. They also became godparents to Napoleon's daughter Isabelle ARBOUR in April 1904 in Midland.Apparently, the two couples Will-and-Ellen and Napoleon-and-Emma were quite close. In March 1917, son Howard responded to a question in his military paperwork that his father was still living in Waubaushene. It isunknown when or where Will passed away, although it is believed that Will died in Campbellford, Ontario, in Northumberland County on the north shore of Lake Ontario. When Ellen predeceased Will, he appears to have then marriedfor a third time, probably about 1916, location unknown. Will did not have any children with his third wife and was known to still be living in about 1920.

Little Howard was living with his father at his grandparents' house in April 1901. It was during this time that Howard became close to his Auntie Annie Belle, who was also living with her parents. His Auntie became a sort of surrogate parentto him by taking over the mothering role upon his own mother's premature death. She was later listed as his next of kin, even while his own father was alive. As a young man, Howard felt the tug of duty calling him and enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces during WWI. On 1 February 1916, Howard was sworn in at Waubaushene. When he reported to Midland for his physical examination, 20-yearold Howard was noted as being 5'6" and weighing 145 pounds with a darkcomplexion, grey eyes, and dark brown hair. He reported his religion as being Methodist and his occupation as laborer. Private ARBOUR then became an armorer in the 177th Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment, serving in England and France. On 27 August 1918, Lance Corporal ARBOUR waswounded in action when he was shot in his right forearm. He recovered completely from his injury and returned to service with his unit. Forhis trouble, Howard earned a Meritorious Medal and was leftwith only asmall scar. Howard was summarilydischarged upon demobilization at the end of the war. On 18 February 1919, he received his last pay chit and returned to his Waubaushene home. Howard was also an accomplished violinist. He even played with a group on the radio called "The ... Harvesters." Howard married Beryl BREGG, but it is unknown if they had any children.

Bio from Facebook on 29 March 2010:
29 March 1909 -- Today's profile is to remind all of us that family history is made of people, with all of our warts and flaws. Each of us is human in our own way. Born in Waubaushene, ON, Cecil "Manley" ARBOUR was the 2nd of 2 children of mill hand William Henri ARBOUR and his 2nd wife Ellen-Jane DUPUIS. It is unclear if Manley ever married or had children. On 16 March 1931, Manley was working as an auto assembler when hetraveled to the US via the port of Niagara Falls, NY. Hewas headed from his home in Toronto, ON, to Rochester, NY, for a 2-day visit with Gordon WILLIAMS, 416 Grand Ave, Rochester. He was noted as being 5'9" tallwith a medium complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. He carried $5 in his pocket. Thefollowing year, ourlast piece of information about Manley comes via a news article published in the Canandaigua, NY, Daily Messenger on Monday 12 September 1932:
