In 1883, Emery purchased land from Thomas B. CLARK in the town of Spencer, MA. Book 1148, Page 89.In 1872 or 1873, Emery left the protection of his family's nest to make the big journey to the UnitedStates of America. He settled in the Stateof Massachusetts and became a naturalized US Citizen there in 1881. After their wedding, Emery and Olivine set up their home in Spencer, Massachusetts, located in Worcester County. In 1887, they rented a room in a house on Adams Street. In 1900, they livedon Adams Street. In both 1920 and in 1930, they owned their home at 24Adams Street. Emery and Olivine had four children, but one of their little girls died while still a child. As a young father, Emery did "channeling" at a shoe factory. Later, hewas the proprietor of his own grocery store.

In the 1894 City Directory for Hudson, MA, there is a listing for a Mr.and Mrs. Armual ARBOUR. Is this Emery and wife Olivine? They lived on Loring Street. His occupation was as a shoemaker; hers, as a dressmaker. They seem to be the most likely couple to fit this description.

In 1902, Emery was President of the Spencer, MA, chapter of the St Jean-Baptiste Society, which was established in 1875.

EMERY ARBOUR, TOWN OFFICIAL AND BUSINESS MAN, DIES
Emery Arbour, 78, a former town official and business man, died yesterday morning at his home, 24 Adams Street. He was a former selectman, chief of police, and at one time a member of the board of assessors. He conducted a grocery store for many years but has lived a retired life thepast few years. He was president of the St Jean-Baptiste Society for several years and took an active part in its affairs. He leaves a son, John, of Spencer, and two daughters, Mrs. Albina Hebert ofSpencer and Mrs. Eva Girouard of Marlboro. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock in St Mary's Church with a high Mass of requiem. The burial will be in Holy Rosary and St Mary's Cemetery in charge of J. Henry Morin, funeral director.

FUNERAL OF EMERY ARBOUR LAST SATURDAY MORNING
The funeral of Emery Arbour, business man and former town official was held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock with a high Mass of requiem at StMary's Church, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Lussier, curate. Mr. Arbour at one time conducted a grocery storeand was also a former chief of police, as well as past president of the St Jean-Baptiste Society. The bearers were Henry Remillard, Adelard Jette, Damase Racine, Charles Pelter, Almos David, and Euchariste Gendron. The funeral service was attendedby business men, town officials, and former members of the St Jean-Baptiste Society, now being disbanded. Delegations from Court Spencer, F of A, and the Social Circle Society. Burial was in Holy Rosary and St Mary's Cemetery in charge of J. Henry Morin, funeral director. Mr. Arbouris survived by his son, John, of this town; and two daughters, Mrs. Albina Hebert of Spencer and Mrs. Eva Girard of Marlboro.
