Notes:

Sam was at home with his parents during the 1901 Census, but he seems to have set out on his own after that. By 1908, he was working as a lumberman in Little Current, ON, located on Manitoulin Islandin the Manitoulin District. After marryingand beginning his family, they left the Little Current area at some point after 1911.

29 April 1878 -- Born in Port Severn, Ontario, Samuel Basile ARBOUR wasthe 5th of 7 children of farmer and mill worker Basile ARBOUR and his wife Ann Jane MOONEY. Sam was at home with his parents inWaubaushene during the 1901 Census, but heseems tohave set out on his own after that. By 1908, he was working as a lumberman in Little Current, ON, locatedon Manitoulin Island in the Manitoulin District. On 23 March 1908, Sammarried 20-year old Martha Ann WILKIN in Little Current.Their family expanded almost immediately with the birth of their first son less than 3 months later. He was followed by 2 brothers and a sister. Sam and family left the Little Current area at some point after 1911. They were found in Sault Sainte Marie, ON, by 1919and thereafter until Sam's deathin 1942. Martha passed away in 1954. Both of them were buried in Old Greenwood Cemetery in Sault Sainte Marie. They are responsible for 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Suddenly at the General Hospital, Sault Ste Marie, ON, on Tuesday 23 November 1993. Dorothy Arbour in her 70th year. Daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Arbour. Predeceased by her brothers Douglas(late Floris) and Lloyd (late Minerva). Dear auntof Joan Fazi (husband Frank) of Sault Ste Marie, MI, Paul Arbour (wife Kay) and Brian Arbour (wife Ann), both of Sault Ste Marie, ON. Great-aunt of Mary Anne Fazi, Kristine & Gregory Arbour. Dorothy joined the Sault District Branch in1982. She wasafaithful member of our branch and OGS and will be greatly missed.

ARBOUR, Paul -- Passed away suddenly at home (Sault Ste Marie, Ontario)on Tuesday, 5 July 2005, at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Kay (neeThistle). Son of the late Douglas and Floris Arbour. Dear brother of Joan Fazi (Frank) and Brian (Ann). Brother-in-law of Billie Thistle (Lucie), Wallace Thistle (Jo-Anne), Shirley Jenkins (Ed), Joyce Downing (John), Diane Keating (Bernard), and Gordon Thistle (Barb). Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Paul retired from St Mary's Paper(Abitbi) after 38 years of service and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 25. Friends called at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (492 Wellington E. Sault Ste Marie, Ontario 705-759-2522) on Friday, 8 July, from 6-9 pm. Funeral service was from the chapel on Saturday, 9 July, at 10 am. Rev. Bruce McLeish officiated. Interment Greenwood Cemetery.
