It would appear as though Joseph and Georgiana left Perce at some pointbetween 1891 and 1900, probably moving to Duluth, MN, for a time. However, they seem to have left behind their son Stanislas, as he was adopted by a local family by 1901. Perhaps both Joseph and Georgiana died and that is why their children were farmed outto others.

02 June 1860 -- Born in Perce, Quebec, Joseph-Octave ARBOUR was the eldest of 5 children of fisher Michel ARBOUR and his wife Christine SWEENEY. Joseph also carried on the family tradition by becoming a fisher in his seaside village. On 05 February1883, Joseph married Georgiana PRETEAU, who appears to have only been 11 ½ at the time of their wedding, having been born on 26 August 1861. She had her first baby one year later at the age of 12 ½. In today's lingo, one might say, "WOW!" Eventually, Georgianabore 5 children - one daughter and 4 sons - at least 3 of whom are known to have reached adulthood. Around this timeJoseph and Georgiana left Perce some time between the birth of their youngest in July 1892 and June1900, probably moving to Duluth,MN, for a time. However, they seem to have left behind their son Stanislas, as hewas adopted by a local family before March 1901. Son Michel was adopted by June 1900. Perhaps both Joseph and Georgiana died and that is why their children were farmed out to others. Although Stanislas fathered 2children, neither seems to have survived childhood. Therefore, there seem to be no descendants for this particular ARBOUR line.

The 1901 Census shows Stanislas as having been adopted by Joseph and Mary LATERREUR and living in Perce, where he attended school.

In Nov 1910, Stanley travelled to the US via the port of Sault Sainte Marie, MI. He had come from Sudbury, ON, was headed for Escanaba, MI. Hedid report that his father was still livingin Copper Cliff, ON, at thetime. Stanley was noted to be 5'5" tall with a fair complexion, lightbrown hair, and blue eyes. He also reported a red wart on his left eye lid. Although he had $28 in his pocket, Stanley claimed to be coming to the US to look for work.

In the 1900 Census, when Michael was 10, he lived with an adoptive family just a couple of houses down the street from Philip ARBOUR. Were they somehow related? Was Michael possibly an illegitimate grandson of Philip?

According to his WWI Draft Registration, Mike was short with blue eyes and brown hair.

According to several sources, including his WWI Draft Registration, Michael also may have been born on 22 Mar 1890 or 23 Mar 1890.

In 1940, Mike reported that he had earned $470 in 1949.
