We know, from the burial record, that her father could not read and neither did the witness. Perhaps the priest made a mistake when he wrote the name, but nobody could tell . . . What do you think?

William Arbour, 79, 60 Margin Street, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. Born in St Raphael, Canada, he made his home here for manyyears. He was a retired employee of the Champion-International paper mill. Surviving are a daughter, Alice, wife of Alfred Mailloux, with whom hemade his home; two sons, Joseph and William Jr, of Lawrence; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Arbour of Quebec and Mrs. Delia Langlois of New Britain, CT; four brothers, Adelard and Alector of Hartford, CT, and Theophile and Adjutor of St Raphael; also seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the later home Saturday morning with a solemn high Mass of requiem at 10 o'clock in St Anne's Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

The funeral of William Arbour, 60 Margin Street, who died Wednesday, was held from the late home Saturday morning with a solemn Mass of requiem at 10 o'clock in St Ann's Church. Rev. Robert Blanchet, SM, was the celebrant. Rev. Lucien Chasse, SM, deacon, and Rev. Lawrence J. Duperry,SM, sub-deacon. The Gregorian Mass was sung with "De Profundis" at therecessional. The soloists were Miss Irene E. Libbey, Edgar J. Beland,and Dolord Veilleux. Mrs. Anna T. Desjardinswas organist. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery where Father Blanchet conducted committal services. The bearers were: William Arbour Jr, Omer Couture, Rene Faucher, William and Lucien Mailloux, and Theophane Bouchard.

At the time of Eliza's deathin March 1935, there were 8 grandchildren. Obviously one of them passed away between March 1935 and March 1949.[obits]

The 1900 Census shows that Emma had given birth to a child but none were still living. The 1910 Census shows that Emma had givenbirth to 3 children but only Everett was still living. Very little is known about these other two children.

Also living with Joseph and Emma in 1900 were Joseph's brothers Adelardand Julius.

By the 1920s and in the 1930 Census, Joseph, Emma, son Everett, and Everett's family all lived in one house. Both Joseph and Everett were recorded as owning a house worth $25,000, but it is unclear exactly which one of them owned the house at 121 Maple Street.

According to his WWI Draft Registration,Joseph was of medium height with medium build; he had brown eyes and black hair. He was already self-employed by this time, which was Sep 1918. It also showed his birth dateas 11 Feb 1874.

SPEEDING TRUCKS STOPPED BY POLICE -- THREE DRIVERS ARRESTED ON COOK AVENUE LAST NIGHT
Complaints that truck drivers were speeding on Cook Avenue late last night led to the arrest of three drivers on charges o recklessdriving. Detective Sergeant Carroll, Detective Sergeant Schuerer, and Officer Hendrickson laid in wait along the thoroughfare about 11 o'clock and when three New Britain trucks, one following the other, drove up at a rate ofspeed said to have been abovethe legal limit, the officers gave chase and stopped them. All three trucks were owned by Joseph Arbour & Son of New Britain and, heavily loaded, were New York bound. Mr. Arbour, informed of the arrest of his drivers, hastened to this city; posted bonds, and the three trucks resumed their trip within a half and hour after being stopped. The drivers gave their names as Albert Ziembko, 21, 14 Lawler St; Frank Makoski, 21, 1 Concord St; and Walter Gwiazda, 23, 121 Farmington Ave, all of New Britain.

A SON OF ST RAPHAEL, JOSEPH ARBOUR, DIED IN HARTFORD, USA
Mr. Arbour, decided to leave St-Raphael at age 19, in about 1895, to goto Lawrence and then to NewBritain. He was a machinist. In 1904, he returned to Canada, got married, and hada son, Everett. He returned to the US in 1907, bought a horse and a cart, and set out to provide transportation. He bought in 1911, in 1914, in 1930, and in1935, several hauling companies, and at his death, which occurred on 13 May 1944, he was considered by the experts to be the wealthiest owner in the hauling business, having a fleet of over 700 trucks. The company, "Associated Transport," was thelargest in all eastern America. He left his wife, Emma Blouin; his son, Everett, Vice-President of the company; and five brothers: Alector, Adelard, John, William,of the US, and Theophile, of St-Raphael; he also left two sisters: Mrs. DeliaLanglois of New Britain, and Mrs. Pierre Arbour of Quebec.

Hartford, CT, 14 May -- Joseph Arbour of New Britain, who expanded a business started with one horseand a former fire department vehicle into one of the biggest trucking concerns in the East, died here last night in St Francis Hospital, where he had been a patientsince Thursday. His age was 68. Mr. Arbour was the founder of Consolidated Motor Lines and before his retirement in November was head of Associated Transport Inc of New York. Born in St-Raphael, QC, he entered business in 1907, takinga standin a public park with his horse and old fire department wagon. Ten years later he began using motor trucks. In 1930 Mr. Arbour reorganized the Consolidated Motor Lines, taking in seven concerns besides hisown. Consolidated was called thelargestindependent motor line in the East in 1936 when it took over Simpson Transportation Lines of New York.The merger with Associated Transport camein 1942. The funeral will be held Friday at 8:30 am at the Curtin Funeral Home and at9 o'clock at St Peter's Church. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery. The funeral home will be open tonight from 7:30 to 10 o'clock, and tomorrow from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 10 pm.

11 Feb 1886 -- Joseph Isidore ARBOUR was born in New Hartford, Connecticut, as the second son of Francois-Xavier ARBOUR and Mary E. STRIDE. Francois-Xavier had emigrated from St Raphael, QC, just 5 years earlier in order to take advantage of the many opportunities afforded by Canada's neighbor to the south. Joseph married Mary E. O'MEARA on 17 Mar 1909 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and they proceeded to have 3 sons over the next 6 years: Walter, Donald, and Robert. According to his WWI DraftRegistration, Joseph was tall with a medium build, brown eyes, and black hair. This man who worked as agrocer, a clerk, and a bartender seemsto have died young, as there is no trace of him after 1918 or 1919.

She is a true ARBOUR through bothlines of parentage.As a young woman, Angelina seems to have given her wings a little stretching. Her first trip to the United States was on 31 October 1923.Her next trip came the following June. In June 1924, Angelina travelled to the US via the port of Quebec City,QC,and was headed for New Britain, CT, and her brother Joseph's house at 364 Elm Street. A mass of Christian Burial for Lillian Arbour Dupona, who passed away on Sunday, 20 January 2008, after suffering a massive stroke, will be Wednesday, 23 January 2008, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach. The family will be receiving friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, 22 January 2008, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home,548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach. He was born in New York City son of thelate Rudolph and Margaret (Rau) Kloiber He attended local schools and graduated from NewBritain Senior High School in 1931, attended The University of Iowa where he played football for the Hawkeyes. The was the President and Owner of The New Britain Dry Cleaners and a Real-Estate Developer He was amember of The South Congregational Church and a Deacon there for more than 20 years and was on The Committee for The Erwin Home. He was active in many Civic organizations; he was a member of theNew Britain Lodge ofElks, Past Commander of The New Britain Power Squadron. A forty-year member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club, an Incorporator of New Britain General Hospital, a member of the West End Businessman'sAssociation. Edgar loved boating,golf and cruising and travel and his four-legged friendSachet his Doberman. Edgar leaves his devoted friend and 30 year companion Ann Margaret Anselmo of New Britain. À l'Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis, le 1er janvier 2017, à l'âge de 68 ans est décédé monsieur Martin Harbour. Il était le fils de feu Ovide Harbour et de feu Irène Lacroix. Il demeurait à Saint-Raphaël, Bellechasse.

Samedi le 7 janvier 2017 à compter de 8h30. Le service religieux sera célébré ce même jour à 10h30 en l'église de Saint-Raphaël. Les cendres seront inhumées ultérieurement au cimetière paroissial.

Il laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs : Doris (Raymond Lapierre), Monique (feu Jacques Picard); ses neveux : Serge Lapierre (Nancy Lamontagne), Sylvain Picard (Lynda Therrien), Stéphane Picard (Christine Proulx) ainsi que plusieurs oncles, tantes, cousins, cousines.

De nombreux ami(e)s qui ont été de grands confidents et de précieux conseillers. Merci de l'avoir entouré et soutenu. Vous avez apporté de la chaleur et du réconfort au cours de son existence.

SHAW, Frances A.. Frances A. (Arbour) Shaw, 84, of Beacon, NY, formerlyof New Britain, died Sunday (2 July 2006), inBeacon, NY. Born 30 Jan 1922, in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Everett J. and Helen (Dery) Arbour. She was the wife of the late William T. Shaw, Jr., who died 9 Nov 1999. Mrs. Shaw was a graduate of Marymount College, Tarrytown, NYand a volunteer for the Catholic Youth Organization with the children. She was a member of St John's Women's Club and St Francis Auxiliary, both in Beacon and a parishioner of St Joachim-St John the Evangelist Church, Beacon. Mrs. Shaw is survivedbytwo sons, William T. Shaw III, and his wife Maureen, of Beacon, Everett A. Shaw and his wife, Karen, of Wallingford; four grandchildren William Shaw IV, Brian Shaw and his wife Isabel, Kelly Kennedy and her husband Sean, and Michael Shaw; four great grandchildren Brian, Mackey and Logan Shaw and Brooke Kennedy; her sister Jo Ellen Jensen and her husband Wesley of Glastonbury, and her sister-in-law Madeline Shaw of New Britain and her brother-in-lawClement Shaw of Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Fitzgibbon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 am at St Joseph's Church,195 S Main St., New Britain. Fitz-Gibbon, son of Mrs. John Fitz-Gibbon of Holyoke, MA, and the late Dr. Fitz-Gibbon, in the Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Family. The ceremony was performed by Msgr. Charles E. Fitzgerald. The Rev. John B. Hughes was the celebrant of thenuptual mass. The bride had as attendantsher sisters, Mrs. William T. Shaw Jr. and Miss JoEllen Arbour. Frank J. Fitz-Gibbon was his brother's best man. A small reception was held atthe home of the bride's parents. The bride studied at Mount St Joseph Academy in West Hartford, CT, and the College ofNew Rochelle. Dr. Fitz-Gibbon attended Providence College and was graduated from the College of Dental and Oral Surgery at Columbia University. He is studying for a medical degree at the Tufts College Medical School.

Shirley (Arbour) Fitz-Gibbon, 67, of University Park and formerly of 4 Lexington Ave., a retired trust officer at Bank of Boston in Springfield, died on Tuesday in Holyoke Hospital. Born in New Britain, CT, she attended local schools, and was graduated from New Rochelle, NY, College.She lived in Holyoke for many years, and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Her husband, Dr. John H. Fitz-Gibbon, a local plastic surgeon, died in 1975. She leaves a son, attorney John H. Fitz-Gibbon of Easthampton; a daughter, Amy Eaccarino of Flushing, NY; her father, EverettJ. Arbour of Delray Beach, FL; two sisters, Jo-Ellen Jensen of Glastonbury,CT, and Frances Shaw of Beacon, NY, and two grandchildren. The funeral will be on Thursday morning at James P. Hobert & Sons Funeral Home and the church, with burial in St Jerome's Cemetery. Calling hoursare this afternoon and evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Holyoke Hospital, 575 Beech St., Holyoke, 01040.

09 Mar 1923 -- Born in New Britain, CT, Shirley A. ARBOUR was one of 3 daughters of Everett J. ARBOUR and HelenI. DERY. Shirley lived quite the privileged life and attended only the best schools, as her father wasthe magnate of a huge transportation company. She studied at Mount St Joseph Academy in West Hartford, CT, and the College of New Rochelle inNY. When she was 25-years old, Shirley married John H. FITZ-GIBBON, who was trained as a dentist and plastic surgeon. They had 2 children together. For some time in her life, Shirley worked as a trust officer at Bank of Boston in Springfield, MA. John died in 1975, but Shirley liveduntil 19 Feb 1991, when she passed away in New Rochelle, NY.
