EDITH BROWN
The loving hands of The Lord reached out and touched Edith Brown while in the presence of her caring and loving husband and daughters. With their blessing through tearing eyes and heavy hearts, Edith was called home on 4 May 2004. She will be trulymissed but never forgotten. Edith was born Anne Edith Pesonen at McKellar Hospital, 23 December 1922. She spent her younger years on her parents' farm in Alpila before moving to(Port Arthur) Thunder Bay. In1995, Edith took an active part in the Alpila School reunion. She was very active in the Epiphany Lutheran Church and volunteered for many organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation andMeals on Wheels. She took great pleasure in baking and delivering her muffins and banana bread to shut-ins. She had a generous, giving nature and spent her life putting others first. Edith is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gilbert Brown; four daughters: Marge Walker, Carolyn O'Neill (Laurie), Debra Spooner (Peter), and Lorraine Paquette (Chuck) of Vancouver; as well as grandchildren Diana Jones (Christopher), Angela Talarico, Joanna Schmidt, Kevin & Jennifer O'Neill, Tanya & Clayton Paquette, and Joshua & Aaron Spooner; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased byher parents Victor and Hilma Pesonen and by her first husband Louis Roland Arbour. A special thanks to both Dr. Zaitzeff, Dr. Colquhoun, all the staff at St Joseph's Hospital who tried to make Edith's long stay as comfortable as possible, the nursing staff on 2-North at St Joseph's Hospital, whowere so caring and compassionate, and to Helmi Kurki for helping out. Thanks and blessings also go outto her very good friend for over 40 years, Edna Gosselin, to Mabel Harris, who faithfully visited Edith during her illness,and to all who prayed and comforted her. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered. Edith was a caring and gentle soul with a passion to help others. According to Edith's wishes, cremation has takenplace. A celebration of Edith's life and prayers will be offered by Pastor Dan Repo on Monday, 10 May, at 11:00 am at the Epiphany Lutheran Church on Dewe Avenue. A private internment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lutheran Community Care Center, 245 E. Bay Street,orthe Epiphany Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
