Mrs. Gilbert was a communicantof St Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of St Anne Society. She is survived by her husband, Treffle, Augusta; a son, Roger T.; a daughter,Mrs. Marie A. Larochelle; two brothers, Edward and Hector Arbour, all of Augusta; a sister, SisterGabriel of the Annunciation, Valley Field, QC, Canada; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be announced.

From Ann Irene STILKEY, wife of Raymond J. ARBOUR: Ray is very proud ofhis Franco-American background and the history regarding Franco American immigrants in Augusta. The area in which they lived was called "SandHill." The cotton mill thatemployed them was at the bottom of Sand Hill and their church, St Augustine, was at the top. The generation of Francois and his children were very much discriminated at that time due totheir ethnic background and it was my husband's generation that brokethecycle. My in-laws left the "Hill" when Ray was 3-years old and movedto the "English" part of thecity, which was really frowned upon. Around the time Ray was getting ready to start school in the non-French speaking part of the city, my in-lawsdecided they needed to teach him to speak English ashe only spoke French at that time. He has memories of other children in the neighborhood teasing him because he only spoke French. He still is quite fluent in French, buthis first language is nowEnglish. His younger brother, however, can understand French quite well buthas difficulty conversing. I also remember Olivine. She refused to speak English and only spoke French, except when it was just she and I,because I do not speak French.

On 30 Nov 1915, Francois and Augustine travelled to the US via the portof Newport, VT, and were headed for Augusta, ME, to their house at 22 Mill Brook. Francois was 5'9" tall with a medium complexion, brown hair, and blue? eyes. Augustine was 5'3"tall with a medium complexion, brown hair, and blue? eyes. They carried $68 with them.

25 Feb 1893 -- Francois-Xavier-Gilbert ARBOUR was born in Joliette, QC,as the 4th of 12 children of Charles-Barthelemi ARBOUR [who was profiled on 14 Feb] and Marie-Celina BOISVERT. At approximatelyage 14, Francois emigrated to the US from Canada but then returned sometime later. Around age 20, Francois trekked across Canada to arrive in Alberta. On 25Nov 1913, in Morinville, AB, Francois married 16-year old Augustine DUPUIS. They had one son who died just after birth in Alberta before theiremigration to the US in about 1915. On 30 Nov 1915, Francois and Augustine traveled to the US via the port of Newport, Vermont, and headed for Augusta, Maine, to their house at 22 Mill Brook. Francois was 5'9" tall with a medium complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. Augustine was 5'3" tall with a medium complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. They carried $68 with them. Just 3 months later, Augustine gave birth to their son Jean-Marie ARBOUR in Feb 1917. In Jun 1917, Francois registered fortheWWI Draft, when he was noted to be of medium height and medium build with blue eyes and brown hair. At the time, he was a widow with a small child, as Augustine had suffered an untimely death after little Jean'sbirth. On 25 Jun 1917, Francoismarried for a second time to Olivine M. PARE, who then bore 8 children over the next 10 years. Throughout hislife, Francois worked as a fixer, a pulp maker in a paper factory, a cotton mill worker, and as an employee of the Edwards Manufacturing Company. He then seems to have become sick by 1933, when he had no job. In 1935, 42-year old Francois passedaway in Augusta, ME, before ever having met any of his 18 grandchildren. Olivine lived another 38years beforepassing away in 1973. One of these grandchildren is Raymond J. Augusta -- Hector C. Arbour, 66, of 41 Oxford St. died Monday morning at the Augusta General Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Joliet, QC, Canada, 6 Jan 1901, son of Barthelemi and CelinaBoisvert Arbour. Mr. Arbour was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church. He hadbeen employed by the Bates Manufacturing Company, Edwards Division, inthe spinning room, and later as custodian for the City of Augusta. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maria Gosselin Arbour of Augusta; three sons, Bertrand and Clement, both of Augusta, and Hector R., Middletown, CT; two daughters, Miss Christine Arbour of Augusta and Mrs. JacquelineFoley of Thomaston; five grandchildren; one brother, Edouard Arbour ofAugusta; one sister, Gabriel de l'Annonciation of Vallyfield, QC, Canada; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A high Mass of requiem will be sung Thursday morning at 9 from St Augustine Catholic Church. Spring burial will be in St Augustine Cemetery.

Casavant performed the ceremony and the single ring service was used.The bride was dressed in a brown wool frock with a jacket of lapin fur. She carried talisman roses. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Arbour of Augusta. Mr. Fortin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Auguste Fortin of this city and is employed at the Edwards Manufacturing Co mill. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Arbour home and a wedding breakfast was served to about30 guests.

AUTO CRASH INJURIES FATAL TO AUGUSTA MAN
Augusta -- Jean B. Bernard, 44, who was injured in an accident at NorthBelgrade about 10:30 Thursday night, died shortly after being taken tothe Augusta General Hospital. When admitted to the hospital he was placed on the danger list with a compundfracture of one leg and serious head injuires, Dr. A. J. Gingras said at the hospital. Four others were less seriously injured when the automobile crashed into the rear of a parked truck in the town of North Belgrade, State Trooper Paul Curtis said. The others were Samuel Lerman of Portland, John Arbour, son-in-law of the dead man, Morie Brown, and Omer Arbour, all of Augusta. Two other Portlanders, Clarence King and Royal Bird, were not hurt. King was the driver of thetruck, police said.Bernard, who lived at 38 Northern Avenue, was born inAugusta on 20 Jan 1895, the son of Louis and Olivine Breton Bernard, and had lived here all his life. He was employed as a doffer in the spinning room of the Edwards MfgCo. He leaves a widow, MarieCoulombe Bernard; seven daughters, Mrs. Jean Arbour, whose husband wasalso in the crash, Mrs. Raoul Grenier, and the Misses Therese, Lorraine, Doris, Leitte, and Bertha, all of Augusta; two sons, Perley and LeoofAugusta; two sisters Mrs. JamesBolducand Mrs. George Boutito of Lowell, MA; a grandson; and several more distant relatives.

Augusta -- Alphonse J. Arbour, 46, of 18 Morton Place, died Monday afternoon at the Augusta General Hospital after a long illness. He was bornin Augusta, 6 Sep 1925, the son of Francois and Olivine Pare Arbour. Mr. Arbour was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church. Prior to his retirement in 1970, due to ill health, he had been employed by BatesManufacturing Company, Edwards Division, inthe spinning room for 19 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rita Pare Arbour of Augusta; twosons, Robert and Roland Arbour, both of Augusta; his mother, Olivine Arbour of Augusta; six brothers, Jean, Leo, Armand, Arthur, Omer, and Joseph Arbour, all of Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Busque of New Britain, CT, andMrs. Blanche Jacques of Augusta; two grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A high requiem Mass will be sung Thursday morning at 9 at St Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St Augustine Cemetery.

Augusta -- Bertrand J. Arbour, 56, of 45 Franklin St., died 18 Sep 1987, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born in Augusta, 6 March 1931, the son of Hector and Maria Gosselin Arbour. He was amail carrier with the US Postal Service for 25 years and previously worked for Bates Manufacturing Company, Edwards Division. Mr. Arbour was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Calumet Club and National Association of letter Carriers, and former member of Soprtman's Alliance of Maine, Trout Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, Lucienne Lacasse Arbour of Augusta; two daughters, Susan M. Fontaine and Lisa A. Pare, both of Sidney; his mother of Augusta; a brother, Hector R. Arbour of Elsmere, NY; two sisters, ChristineArbour of Augusta and Jacqueline Foley of Hallowell; four grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may visit today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of LeClub Calumet will recite prayers at 7 tonight. Hallowell -- Jacqueline Foley, 76, passed away at her home on Saturday,2 Nov 2013, after a long illness. Jackie was born in Augusta in 1937, the daughter of the late Hector C. and Maria (Gosselin) Arbour. She graduated from St Augustine School in 1951 and from Cony High School in 1955. She had been employed by the state of Maine Department of Educationfrom which she retired in 1996 after 41 years of service. Jacqueline was a communicant of St Michael Parish at St Augustine Church. She married Herbert G. Foley in 1964, and they had one daughter, Kathleen Foley Smith. Mr. Foley died in 1997. Jackie enjoyed shopping, going to lunch with friends, being with her family and visiting with her grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents,she was predeceased by her three brothers, Bertrand J.Arbour, J. Clement Arbour and Hector "Babe" Arbour. Jackie is survived by daughter Kathleen Smith, her husband, Travis, and their three children, Noah, Lauren and Luke,all of El Dorado Hills, CA; and her sister, Christine I. Arbour, of Augusta. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Lucienne Arbour, of Augusta, Gloria Fleming and her husband, William, of Augusta, and Sharon Chase-Arbour, of Kalispell, MT; as well as by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Per Jacqueline's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, 9 Nov, at St AugustineChurch, Northern Avenue, Augusta. She was such a good Secretaryto him. He told how particular shewas with every budget he prepared and never once complained about sometimes typing pages over and over! Sheknew it's importance and just did it. She was that way with everythingshe did. She took pride in her work. She kept a tidy and professionaloffice and was kind and caring towards the staff. Of course, she and I used to joke that Stan was a lucky man to have two Capricorn women behind him. Jackie & I shared birthdays, 1 day apart. HECTOR R. ARBOUR
Kalispell, MT -- Hector R. Arbour, 63, "went to be with God" on Thursday, 29 Nov 2007, after a brave and valiant struggle with cancer. His constant positive attitude as he faced this uphill battle was an inspiration to all of us. He was bornon 16 Dec 1943, in Augusta, Maine, the son of Hector C. and Maria (Gosselin) Arbour. His early years were spent onSand Hill in Augusta, where many precious moments were shared with family and friends. As he was growing up, "Babe," as he wasknown, played ball in Little League and the Babe Ruth League and delivered Kennebec Journal newspapers in the area.Hector graduated from St Augustine School in 1958 and Cony High School in 1962. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology fromBowdoin College in 1966 and subsequently obtained his master of business administration from Russell Sage College in Albany, NY. While at Bowdoin, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, where he made andmaintained friendships that had lasted allhis life. During the baseball season, their usual greeting was "GO RED SOX!" He was employed by Travelers Insurance Co. in the Medicare claims department for 25 years, and his work required that he and his family move to different locations inRhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Voorheesville and Albany, NY. While living in Voorheesville, he was elected town justice, a position he took very seriously. Not only did he try cases, but he had the pleasure of marrying many couples as part of that job. After retiring, he moved to his beloved Montana in 1995, in sight of the mountains he loved so much. In Kalispell, he was a photographer for Kalispell News andlater worked for Karen Weyer Photography. Hector was apastmember of the Elks and Kiwanis clubs and a present member of the Flathead Shrine Club, having been chairman of the Shrine Circus in Kalispell for many years. He was "Shriner of the Year" in 2001. He was happy to find kids whocould benefitfromthe care Shrine hospitals could give. He worked diligently to raise the money to make that happen. Babe loved his God, his family, hiking, and biking in Glacier Park, and traveling. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. His favorite meal included lobster, orange soda, and chips, followed by ice cream. His family made sure that he was always treated to this when he visited them inAugusta and on their trips to Boothbay Harbor, Maine. His appreciationof nature was evident in the photography he enjoyed and shared with others. From the windows of his home in Kalispell, he could watch the panorama of the changing mountain scenes, the geese, ducks, deer, eagles, hawks, fox, and coyotes as theypassed the property. Babe's favorite saying was "Life Is Good," and heworkedhard to make that true. A sports fan, he avidly followed the Red Sox, New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, and any NBA team that Steve Nash played for. He hada wonderful sense of humor, was a good listener, and was an honest, honorable,and loving man. He was predeceased in death by his father, Hector C. Arbour; two brothers, Bertrand J. Arbour and J. Clement Arbour; and his brother-in-law,Herbert G.Foley. Hector is survived by his wife, Sharon, at thefamily home in Kalispell; his mother, Maria Arbour; his sisters, Christine I. Arbour, of Augusta, and Jacqueline Foley, of Hallowell, Maine; his daughter, Nicole and her husband, Dr. Richard Lennon, and grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha, and Victoria, of Tampa, FL; his son,David Arbour and his wife, Mary Lynn, and grandchildren Sarah and Michael, of Port Richey, FL; his daughter, Renay Arbour and her husband, Davide Cernuschi, of Brooklyn, NY; by extended family, Joseph Chase, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Susan Chase,Frank Bellion, and granddaughter Marie Claire, of Hayling Island, England. Also surviving are nephews Michael Arbourand his wife, Jennifer,of Union,Maine, and Dennis Arbour and wife, Lisa, of Augusta; nieces Susan Fontaine, Lisa Pare and her husband, Raymond, and Kim Bard and her husband, Michael, all of Augusta, and Kathy Smith and her husband, Travis, of Sacramento, CA; two sisters-in-law, Lucienne Arbour and Gloria Fleming and her husband, Bill, of Augusta; grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins; and an aunt. Augusta -- Albenie C. Dufour, 72, died Friday, 30 Sept 2011, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Madawaska on 31 July 1939, ason of the late Ernest and Aline (Gendreau) Dufour. Mr. Dufour had been employed as a barber at Pats Barber Shop in Augusta, by Statler Tissue, Bates Mfg -- Edwards Division, and Carleton Woolen Mills. He was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and was a diehard New York Yankees fan. When he wasn't pursuing his passions for hunting, fishing, making maple syrup, or cutting firewood, he could be found watching the Red Sox lose or his Yankees win on his big screen TV. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, especially Lori, and MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Glenridge, especially Gail, Emily and Mary for the care and compassion they showed to Albenie and his family duringhis stay with them. Mr. Dufour was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Beaulieu.
