ARBOUR, Beth
The family sadly announces the unexpected passing of Beth Arbour who diedpeacefully in her sleep at her residence on Sunday, 6 July 2008, in her 92nd year. She had been blessed with excellent health and was independent and active to her very last day. Beth was born in Folkstone, England, on 17 September 1915, and came to Canada as a very young child with her parents William and Helen Balcombe. She grew up in Port Arthur with her five siblings attending Cornwall PublicSchool and Port Arthur Technical High School. She married Dona Arbour on 23 October 1937. In their early years together they lived on army bases and in Geraldton afterthe war. In 1949, they came to Port Arthur with their two daughters Donalda and Marilyn. Beth was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by herfamily, friends, and neighbours. Her main interests were her family, home and garden, and her friends from Branch #5 Legion of which she was a lifetime member. Beth was predeceased by her parents, brothers: John, Ken, and RaymondBalcombe, sisters: Nellie Douglas and IsabelBalcombe, and her beloved husband of 63 years, Dona Arbour. She is survived by her daughters Donalda Vonk (Wim) and Marilyn Yurick (Glenn), granddaughtersSheryl Watson (Dale) and Carolyn and Jennifer Vonk, andone precious great grandson Tai Watson.As per Beth's request cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 9 July 2008, at 11:00 am in theSargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Archdeacon Mark S. Conliffe presiding. All services will conclude in the chapel and a reception will be held in the Sargent Family Reception Centre. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the Branch #5 Building Fund would be appreciated.
