    Warren and Mattie had three children, two daughters and a son. Warren and Mattie moved across the country and settled in Vancouver, Washington, in 1935. Warren owned and operated Arbour's Grocery in downtown Vancouver.

    WARREN B. ARBOUR
    Warren B. Arbour, who operated a grocery store until the late 1950s at the present site of The Columbian, died Wednesday in a Portland Hospital. He was 81. Mr. Arbour lived in Vancouver since 1935. Survivors include his widow, Mattie, at home; a son, John of Vancouver; two daughters,Ruth Baton and Mary McVay, both of Vancouver; two sisters, Florrie Rivet of Plaquemine, LA, and Annette LeBouef ofVancouver; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 am Saturday at St James Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St James Acres. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home.

    The funeral of Warren B. Arbour, a longtime Vancouver grocer, was scheduled for Saturday, 9 Jan, at St James Roman Catholic Church, with burial in St James Cemetery. Mr. Arbour, who was the owner of the former Arbour's Grocery downtown, was 81 whenhe died Wednesday in a Portland hospital. Born in Plaquemine, LA, he had been a Vancouver resident since 1935. Survivors include his wife, Mattie; oneson, John; and two daughters, Ruth Baton and Mary McVay, all of Vancouver; two sisters, Florrie Rivet of Plaquemine and Annette LeBouef of Vancouver; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Mr. Arbour was a member of and usher at StJames Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus Columbia Council 1327 and theKnights of ColumbusMother Joseph Assembly.

    18 Mar 1906 -- Born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, Warren Benedict ARBOUR was precisely in the middle of 13 children born to John Earl ARBOUR and Annette Blanche BERGERON, proving that even ARBOURs who live in the US can be prolific. On 22 Jul 1905, Warren married 20-year old Mattie Mary SHARON. Warren and Mattie had 3 children, 2 daughters and a son. In 1930, the young family lived in Plaquemine, where they rented a house for $6 per month. Warren worked as a laborer in a lumber mill, as so many of the ARBOURs have done. In 1935, Warren and Mattie moved across the country and settled in Vancouver,Washington, where Warren owned and operated Arbour's Grocery in downtown until the late 1950s. On 06 Jan 1988, Warren died in Portland, Oregon, and was buried in St James Acres in Vancouver. Mattie followed him there when she died on 02 Dec 1997. Today they are responsible for at least 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

    Ruth Annalee Arbour Baton peacefully left this earth 13 September 2010 at age of 84. She lived in Vancouver, WA since coming to Clark County in 1935 with her family at age 9. She was born to Warren and Mattie Arbour on 4 June 1926 in Plaquemine, LA. Ruth was a loyal Blazer fan from the team's inception and was the family resident video-photographer. Ruth is survived by four children, Pam (John) Garofalo, Jan (Brian) Bell, Bonnie (Sid) Harvey and Bill (Kim) Baton Jr.; sister, Mary McVay; brother, John Arbour; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bill Baton Sr.; andher 5 year old daughter, Terri Lynn in 1971. Graveside service will beheld at Evergreen Memorial Gardens,Saturday, 25 September, at 2:00 pm. Celebration of Ruth's life will be immediately after at the family home.     MARY HELEN (ARBOUR) MCVAY 30 July 1928 -- 25 February 2013
    Mary Helen Arbour McVay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away 25 February 2013, surrounded by her family. While her memory was slowly taken from her by Alzheimer's, she remained theheart of our family. Mary was bornin Plaquemine, Louisiana on 30 July 1928 to Mattie and Warren Arbour. Her older sister Ruth (deceased) and younger brother John (living) completed thefamily. They moved to Vancouver in 1935 where Warren owned and operated a grocery store. Mary spentmany days after school helping her father at the store. Mary met her future husband, Bill, in Aprilof 1947 and were married on October 18th of the same year. Over their 65 years of marriage, they raised 3 children, Jeffrey, Shari and Dave who gave her 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. While Mary's number one focus was always her family and raising her children, she did become a manager for Hickory Farms in the Commercial Sales division and worked for thatorganization for 20 years.Mary loved to travel, spending the month of March in Palm Desert each year, along with family vacations to Sunriver and the beach. Anything thatgot her on the road was a good day to her. Mary is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Jeffrey McVay (Pam), Shari Ludlow (Mike) and DaveMcVay (Bobbie); grandchildren, Katherine Kissick, Alex McVay, Jessica Ludlow, Jacob Ludlow, Kalah McVay, Tyler McVay; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will beheld at St Joseph's Catholic Church inVancouver at 11:00 am on Friday, March 1st. The family would like to thank caregivers Vicky and Peter Cutile for opening their home and hearts to Mary and our family in her final days.
