18 Mar 1906 -- Born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, Warren Benedict ARBOUR was precisely in the middle of 13 children born to John Earl ARBOUR and Annette Blanche BERGERON, proving that even ARBOURs who live in the US can be prolific. On 22 Jul 1905, Warren married 20-year old Mattie Mary SHARON. Warren and Mattie had 3 children, 2 daughters and a son. In 1930, the young family lived in Plaquemine, where they rented a house for $6 per month. Warren worked as a laborer in a lumber mill, as so many of the ARBOURs have done. In 1935, Warren and Mattie moved across the country and settled in Vancouver,Washington, where Warren owned and operated Arbour's Grocery in downtown until the late 1950s. On 06 Jan 1988, Warren died in Portland, Oregon, and was buried in St James Acres in Vancouver. Mattie followed him there when she died on 02 Dec 1997. Today they are responsible for at least 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Knight of Vancouver, WA, a much loved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away 6 Jan 2011, at Portland Providence Hospital. She was born in Portland, OR, the second of four children of Carl and GraceArbour and graduated from VancouverHigh School. Shirley worked many years for C2F, a craft supply company, as a salesperson to the Fred Meyer Stores in the Northwest and Alaska, planning product displays and setting them up in the stores. Shirley enjoyed watercolor painting, playingbells in Columbia Presbyterian Church Bell Choir, camping, traveling,and motorcycle riding. Shirleyis survived by her husband of 61 years, Gary Knight; daughter, Catherine Knight of Kirkland, WA; sons, GeoffreyKnight of Eugene, OR, and GregoryKnight of Costa Mesa, CA; grandson, Ryan Waggoner of Kenmore, WA; and sister, Eileen O'Neil of Vancouver, WA. Surrounded by her family, Gloria Arbour Dupont passed away at her home on Wednesday, 30 May 2007. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was born in Addis and lived the remainder of her life in Plaquemine. She was an extremely kind and caring person who will be painfully missed by her husband, J. Gerald Dupont Sr., with whom she shared her life since graduating from high school in 1943. She is survived by three children, Debbie and husband Ronnie Hebert, J.G. "Bubbie"Dupont Jr. and wife Jenny Wren, and Stacy and husband Anthony Vitale; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Juanita Arbour and Jan Fleming. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Johnson Arbourand George Donald Arbour; brother, Donald Arbour; and grandson, David Hebert. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hebert, Brady Sessums, Jade Dupont, Paul Marchand, Kevin Alexander, Nathan Vitale and Brad Stockwell. The family would like to thank Dr.Patrick Stagg and nurse Tara Acosta for their care and kindness. 09 May 1928 -- Born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, Joseph Donald ARBOUR was the only son of auto mechanic George Donald ARBOUR and his wife Beatrice JOHNSON. Young Donald married 19-year old Geraldine FISHER in about 1948. They immediately began their family, which grew to include 4 children: Dean, Lisa, Scott, and Nancy. In the early 1950s, Donald answered his country's call to duty during the KoreanConflict. Shortly after this, he began a 30-year tenure at the Iberville Trust and Savings Bank asan insurance manager. Geraldine died in Plaquemine on 12 June 1991. Donald died there on 11 September 1995. Both of them were buried in the Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum in Plaquemine. At last count, Donald and Geraldine have 9grandchildren.

She was born to Warren and Mattie Arbour on 4 June 1926 in Plaquemine, LA. Ruth was a loyal Blazer fan from the team's inception and was the family resident video-photographer. Ruth is survived by four children, Pam (John) Garofalo, Jan (Brian) Bell, Bonnie (Sid) Harvey and Bill (Kim) Baton Jr.; sister, Mary McVay; brother, John Arbour; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bill Baton Sr.; andher 5 year old daughter, Terri Lynn in 1971. Mary Helen Arbour McVay, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away 25 February 2013, surrounded by her family. While her memory was slowly taken from her by Alzheimer's, she remained theheart of our family. Mary was bornin Plaquemine, Louisiana on 30 July 1928 to Mattie and Warren Arbour. Her older sister Ruth (deceased) and younger brother John (living) completed thefamily. They moved to Vancouver in 1935 where Warren owned and operated a grocery store. Mary spentmany days after school helping her father at the store. Mary met her future husband, Bill, in Aprilof 1947 and were married on October 18th of the same year. Over their 65 years of marriage, they raised 3 children, Jeffrey, Shari and Dave who gave her 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. While Mary's number one focus was always her family and raising her children, she did become a manager for Hickory Farms in the Commercial Sales division and worked for thatorganization for 20 years.Mary loved to travel, spending the month of March in Palm Desert each year, along with family vacations to Sunriver and the beach. Anything thatgot her on the road was a good day to her. Mary is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Jeffrey McVay (Pam), Shari Ludlow (Mike) and DaveMcVay (Bobbie); grandchildren, Katherine Kissick, Alex McVay, Jessica Ludlow, Jacob Ludlow, Kalah McVay, Tyler McVay; and 4 great-grandchildren. Lifelong Vancouver resident, Kathleen A. Cruthers, 53, died Wednesday 24 June 1998, in Vancouver. The Columbian was unable to determine the cause of death. Mrs. Cruthers was bon 28 Dec 1944, in Vancouver. She had worked as a sales clerk at Crosley Bowl for the past seven years. She enjoyed collecting rabbit figurines and Princess Diana memorabilia. Survivors include two sons, David and Tony, bothof Vancouver; one daughter,Theresa Edmonds of Fairfield, CA; and one brother Wayne Arbour of Vancouver. A funeral will begin at 10 am Tuesday at Memorial gardens Funeral Chapel. Private burial will follow in Evergreen memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made tothe American Heart Association, 11807N E 99th St Suite 1160, Vancouver, WA 98682.

MAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT NEAR LEBANON
A 22-year old Portland man was killed Saturday when his hang glider collapsed near Washburn Heights, about seven miles south of Lebanon in Linn County. Dead is Urban Samuel Arbour, a member of the Oregon Hang Gliding Assn. According to Linn County sheriff's deputies, Arbour was soaring when his glider suddenly collpased. Arbour hadn't assembled the glider properly, deputies said. Burce Knutson, flight director for South Oregon Hang Gliding Assn in Eugene, said Arbour had about three years ofgliding experience.
