But there seemsto be no record of them actually having received the land. Perhaps this is when they decided to emigrate to the US. In 1890, the Honoré Mercier government, observing that it was "advisable, following the example of past centuries, to give marks of consideration for fruitfulness in the sacred bonds of matrimony," passed alaw entitled An Act to confer a privilege upon fathers or mothers of families who have twelve children living (53 Vict., c. 26). The Act granted 100 acres of public landsfree of charge to parents of 12 living children born in lawful wedlock. The measure harkens back the 17th century, when Louis XIV took measures to encourage births in Canada. In that era, inhabitants who managed to have 10 children living, born inlawful wedlock, excluding priests, monks and nuns, could receive an annual pension of 300 pounds. The pension was increased to 400 pounds if the number of children reached 12. To have the benefit of the law of 1890, an eligible father or mother had to present a petition to the Provincial Secretary, accompanied by his or her certificate of marriage, a certificate of birth of each of his or her children, and a certificate sworn before a justice of the peace giving the number and names of the children. After examining the petition and certificates, the Provincial Secretaryreported to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council. If the latter granted the petition, an order was passed to that effect and a copy was sent tothe Commissioner of Crown Lands, who had the duty of granting the petitioner the 100 acres he had selected. On 30 December 1890 (54 Vict., c.19), the legislature changed certain provisions. Now, the religious minister of the place where the petitioner lived had to certify the truthof the facts alleged by the petitioner. A certificate of birth of eachchild was no longer required, and thepetition was now addressed to the Commissionerof Agriculture and Colonization. In 1892, it was specified that the 100 acres of land had to be selected out of the public landsfit for cultivation, for sale and available at the time of selection, in the township, parish or unorganized territory where the petitioner lived or, if no such lands were available, in the township, parish or unorganized territory closest to where the petitioner lived (55-56 Vict.,c. 19). In 1895, an amendment to the "Twelve Children Act" specified that the lands were granted by location ticket, subject to the usual conditions of settlement. Asof June 1904, persons entitled to land could obtain a $50.00 premium instead. Finally, in May 1905, a new law abolished grants of land and premiums to families with 12 or more children (5 Ed. VII, c.16), thereby terminating the government aid program. Between1890 and 1905, of the 5,413 families officially recognized, 4,977 received a lot or a premium under the Act. Despite certain difficulties of administration, the Act was of particular benefit to people who did notown the land they livedon, that is, bearers of location tickets and squatters, who had to be granted the land they already occupied. The records of the petitioners are preserved at the Québec City centre of Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, in the fonds of the ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec (E9,S101,SS4, containers 1984-11-011/139 to 198) and they represent 13.2 metres of textual documents covering the period from 1890to 1905. According to the 1910 Census, William and Delima had 11 children, only 7 of whom wereliving at the time.

At the time of daughter Delima's first wedding in October 1910, Williamwas said to be living in Townsend Center, MA, while wife Delima was living in Canada. Was she just there on a visit?

At the time of daughter Delima's second wedding in September 1914, William was said to be living in Townsend, MA, whilewife Delima was living in Nashua, NH.

At the time of daughter Marie-Louise's wedding in Jul 1943, William wasreported dead, while hisresidence was "unknown." At the same time, Delima wasreported dead but her residence was noted as Nashua, NH. Did William leave the family some years before he died?

15 Feb 1857 -- Cleophas ARBOUR was born in St-Raphael, QC, as the 8th of 9 children of Michel ARBOUR and MargueriteDUBREUIL. Cleophas came from a long line of farmers and continued that trend for himself. On 05 Feb 1883, he wed 15-year old Marie-Melina PICARD. From 1884 to 1899, Melina gave them 11 children, alsocontinuing the trend of a fantastic Catholic birthrate. In 1900, the large family decided to further the emigration trend of many ARBOURs before them when they moved to Willimantic, Connecticut. However, the move seems to have sealed Cleophas' fate. He became ill and just 8 days later he was dead of acute pneumonia on 05 Jul 1902, at the age of45. He was buried in St Joseph's Catholic Cemeteryin Willimantic, CT. Melina lived many more years, seeing at least 18 grandchildren born, before she died in Willimantic on 12 Oct 1930.

16 April 1876 -- Born in St-Raphael, QC, Leon ARBOUR was the 2nd of 12 children of farmer and later mill employee Jean-Michel ARBOUR and his wife Josephine LESSARD. These 12 children are the reason Michel and Josephinewere able to apply for a special land grant from the Government ofQuebec, which extended such a privilege to families simply because they had 12 children. However, it is not clear that Michel and Josephine ever received their land, as they decidedto emigrate to the US in about 1898, initially settling in the Willimantic, Connecticut, area. Just a few years after their arrival, Leon married 18-year old Sophronie BERTRAND in Willimantic on 21 June 1901. Between 1902and 1916, Leon and Sophronie had 10 children born in Connecticut, Quebec, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, indicating how much they moved around. Throughout his life, Leon supported his family in various ways: Cotton Weaver (1900),Carpenter at a Mill (1910), Machinist withanAuto Repair Company (1918), Repairman with an Auto Shop (1920). According to his WWI Draft Registration, Leon was of medium height and medium build, withbrown eyes and grey hair. Leon was just 49 when he died in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on 09 July1925. Sophronie then enlisted a partner to assist her in raising her children. On 15 October 1927 in Holyoke, Sophronie married 47-year old Jeremie GIROUX. Sophronie was 66 when she died in Holyoke on 07 January 1950. Leon and Sophronie gave rise to17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

 Our William has not yet been found in the 1910 US Census. Is it possible that he moved back to Canada for a time? There is a William ARBOUR living in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, in 1911 during the Census taken in June of that year. He lived on 25-47-13 W2 with his wife, known simply as Mrs. Arbour. Perhaps they were not at home when the census enumerator visited and a neighbor gave the information instead. He was listed as being 28, having been born in 1883; she was listed as being 26, having been born in 1885. Both were born in Quebec, spoke French, and were of the Catholic religion. William was a farmer.

According to the 1940 Census, Willie had completed the 8th grade. He and his wife also had his brother Joseph living with them in the family house in Holyoke, MA.

In 1940, Willie reported that he had earned $1,100 in 1939.

Mrs. Alma (Arbour) Ayotte, 14 1/2 Cedar St, wife of the late Omer Ayotte,died suddenly at her home this morning following a short illness. Shewas born 19 Jan 1890, in this city, daughter of the late William and Delima (Theberge) Arbour. Survivors are five children: Roland and LionelAyotte, Mrs. Armand Moreau, Mrs. Gerard Gagnon, and Miss Rita Ayotte, all of this city; one brother, William Arbour; five sisters: Mrs. Delima Paris, Mrs. Ernest Marquis, Mrs. Gerard Michaud, Miss Augustine Arbour, and Miss Odille Arbour. Also five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ayotte was a communicant of St Louis de Gonzague Church and was employed for many yearsat the Nashua Manufacturing Company. Relatives and friends may call at theP. N. Anctil Funeral Home, 39 Kinsley St.

AYOTTE -- Died in this city, 8 April 1947, Mrs. Alma A. Ayotte. Funeralservices from the P. N. Anctil Funeral Home, 39 Kinsley St, at 8:00 o'clock Friday morning, followed by a solemn high mass of requiem at 9:00 at the St Louis de Gonzague Church.Relatives and friendsare invited toattend.

FUNERALS -- MRS. ALMA AYOTTE
Funeral service was held this morning from the P. N. Anctil Funeral Home at 8 for Mrs. Alma (Arbour) Ayotte, followed by a solemn high mass ofrequiem at 9 at St Louis de Gonzague Church before a large attendance of relatives and friends, many coming from Haverhill, MA. Also present was adelegation of students from St Amselm's College, where Mrs. Ayotte's son is studying. Very Rev. Paul Desaulniers, PR, was the celebrant and was assisted by Rev. Gerard Comtois as deacon and Rev. Edmond Guay as sub-deacon. Also attending was Rev. Paul Houde of St Anselm's faculty. The bearers were: Raymond StOnge, Omer Arbour, Albert Marquis, Raoul Marquis, Wilbrod Paris, and Frederick Migneault. Burial was in the family lot in the St Louis de Gonzague Cemetery under the direction of P. N. Anctil, undertaker and funeral director. Committal prayers at the grave were said by Rev. Father Comtois and Father Houde.

Mrs. Delima (Arbour)Paris, 82, a resident of 293 Spruce St, Manchester,for the past eight years and a former resident of Nashua, died at a Manchester nursing home Monday following a long illness. A native and resident of Nashua for most of her life, she was born 3 October 1891, daughter of the late William and Delima (Theberge) Arbour. She was the wifeof Arthur Paris, who died in 1925, and was a former employee ofthe Nashua Mfg Co. While living in Nashua, she was a communicant of St-Louis-de-Gonzague Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Evelyn)Dignard, with whom she made her home in Manchester; one son, Wilbrod Paris of Nashua; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Marquis, Mrs. Odile Desmarais, Mrs. Arthur (Marie) Fredette, and Mrs. Angelina Bilodeau, all of Nashua; one granddaughter, Sister Mariette Dignard of the Order of Jesus and Mary from Washington, DC; one grandson, Michael A. Dignard of Manchester; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Anctil Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blanche M. (Arbour) Marquis, 82, of 9 Bensen Ave, and formerly of 57 PineSt, died today at a local hospital after along illness. She was the widow of Ernest J. Marquis. A native of St-Raphael, QC, Canada, shewas born 26 Jul 1884, daughter of WIlliam and Delima (Theberge) Arbour. Mrs. Marquis was educated in Nashua schools, was a member of the St Anne's Guild of St-Louis-de-Gonzague Parish, WWI Barracks 39 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 3 Auxiliary, and Senior Citizens. She was a communicant of St-Louis-de-Gonzague Church. Mrs. Marie L. (Arbour) Fredette, 69, of 17 Elm St, a native and lifelong resident of Nashua, died at a local hospital Friday night following ashort illness. She was born in this city 24 Jan 1904, to the late William and Delima (Theberge) Arbour. She is a former employee of the Nashua Mfg Co and Jackson Mills, where she had worked for more than 40 years. She was educated in Nashua schools and was a communicant of St-Louis-de-Gonzague Church. She is survived by her husband. Arthur R. Fredette;three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Marquis, Mrs. Odile Desmarais, and Mrs. Angelina Bilodeau, all of Nashua; also, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. On 9 Jul 1919, William again returned to Canada, this time via the portof St-Armand, QC. The 33-year old baker claimed he was born in St-Raphael, QC, and was coming to Canada to stay. His last address in the US was 237 Main St, Willimantic, CT. He claimed he had been in the US since25 Nov 1916, which is corroborated by the above entry. William had a train ticket from Willimantic to Montreal, QC, aboard Train #3. He was in apparent "good" health and carried with him $175. It was also noted that William could both read and write.

Connecticut School Age Certificates, 1904-1911 -- These certificates vouched for a young person's right to work. As the 20th century opened, the issue of child labor had risen to prominence in the labor movement. Thanks to reformers like Florence Kelley, Jane Addams, and Mother Jones, people were starting to take notice, and some states began regulatinghours and conditions in which children could work. Connecticut startedestablishing educational requirements for working children in 1869. By1882, working children betweenthe ages of 8 and 14 were required to attend at least 12 weeks of school, and in 1895, children under the age of 14 were prohibited from working in "gainful employment" at all. In 1899, additional legislation gave teeth to the law by imposing a $20-per-week fine. To ensure compliance, employers had to keep proof of age fortheir child employees on file, but proof could be hard to come by, particularly in the cases of many young immigrants. The Connecticut State Board of Education helped with oversight of child laborers and, beginning in 1903, could issue certificates for children over 14 as proof of age.

On 9 May 1906, Amedee applied for a School Age Certificate, D8. His birth date was recorded as 12 May 1892 -- but we know this to be in error,as the church records show him born and baptised in 1893. He was really only 13 (not quite) at the time, but there must have been a compelling reason for him to try to quit school and go to work. His father had died a few years earlier. Perhaps Amedee's mother was burdened with the other children and just could not bother keeping him in school; perhapsthey needed themoney he could earn. However, it seems as though the inspector denied Amedee's request because he was "Sent to Fall Term 1906." Perhaps that is what the D stands for in the certificate number, D=denied.

On 21 Aug 1906, Amedee again applied for a School Age Certificate, D8. His birth date was again recorded as 22 May 1892. It is unclear whetheror not he was issued the certificate this time, as Final Action is blank; however, the "Sent to ___ school" is also blank, as if he were not assigned to school.

On 13 Jun 1907, Amedee was possibly issued a School Age Certificate, C28. His birth date was recorded as 22 May 1892, noted by inspection. He really was 14 by this time but just barely. Perhaps he was allowed to work. Perhaps that is what the C stands for in the certificate number, C=certificate.

On 14 Sep 1907, Amedee was definitely issued a School Age Certificate, C254. His birthdate was recorded as 12 Mar 1892, according to his mother's testimony. Amedee was reported to be a Learning Craftsman.

She was lastemployedas a seamstress at the former Chicopee Undergarment Company, before retiring in 1968. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and a member of theLadies of Saint Anne Sodality ofthe parish. She was a member of the Aldenville Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by: her loving daughter, Lillian Wells Pulaski, who was Called Home on 15 March 1973; her beloved husband, Emile J. Boutin, who wasCalled Home on 18 May 1989; and her dear brothers and sisters. She leaves her loving children: Lorraine M. Boisvert of South Hadley; ViolaA. Benard and her husband, Lester of Enfield, CT; and Joseph Ronald Boutin and his wife, Lisaof Agawam. She also leaves: her 16 cherished grandchildren; her 24 cherished great-grandchildren; her seven cherished great-great-grandchildren; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral willbe held on Tuesday morning, 8 February 2011, at 8:15 am from theSt Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street in Chicopee, followedby a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street in Chicopee. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street in Chicopee. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Rose Chapel on Monday, 7 February 2011, from 4 pm to 7 pm The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA01020. The office manager of Arrow Security Corp. in Springfield was killed and his 44-year-old daughter seriously injured when their car was hit by a stolen car driven by a 14-year-old boy at Dwight and Carew Streets around 6 p m yesterday. Police identified the victim as Raymond Arbour, 62, of 367 Broadway, Chicopee, a passenger in the car. Police said the driver was his daughter, Kathleen Godbout, 44, of 185 New Ludlow Road, Chicopee. She was listed in serious conditiontoday at Baystate Medical Center suffering from broken ribs and internal injuries, a nursing supervisor said. Police said the youth was arrested at 2:26 am and charged with vehicular homicide and driving to endanger, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and driving without a license. Traffic BureauCapt. Francisco M. Basile said the accused youth, who lives at 264 Franklin St., went through a red light and struck the Godbout car "broadside." Basile said he later surrendered himself to police, coming into the station with his mother. Arbour's death was the seventh highway fatality of the yearin Springfield. The youth was to be arraigned today in Juvenile District Court. Because of his age, his name was not released. Police said the Godbout car was traveling west on Carew Street when it was struck by the southbound car on Dwight Street. Springfield firefighters responded to the emergency and assisted in removing the victim andGodbout. An autopsy was to be conducted later today at the office of Hampden County Medical Examiner Dr. Loren Mednick to determine the exactcause of death. Jerome Wilder, a spokesman for the medical examiner, said Arbour died at Baystate of multiple injuries. John D. DeBarge, Arrow's security manager, said Arbour had been an auxiliary police officer for the city of Chicopee for many years. Arbour had been working for Arrow for the last four years. Raymond A. Arbour, 62, of 367 Broadway, died Monday in Baystate MedicalCenter, Springfield, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was employed as director of security for the Arrow Security Co. in Springfield. He had previously been the director of the Chicopee divisionof the Red Cross and had worked in the finance department of the former Third National Bank in Springfield. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, he served in the Chicopee Auxiliary Police and had been an assistant director of security at the Eastern StatesExposition in West Springfield for 25 years. He leaves his wife, Cecilia M. (Sullivan) Moore Arbour; two sons, James Moore and Richard Moore, both of Springfield; a daughter,Kathleen Godbout of Springfield, and eight grandchildren. Conrad A. Arbour, 40, of 186 Lowell Rd, Hudson, a veteran of WWII, diedat the Manchester Veterans' Hospital Thursday morning following a longillness. A lifelong resident of Nashua until a month ago, he was born 19 Nov 1922, sonof William and Yvonne(Belanger)Arbour. Mr. Arbour was in the Army for three years and her served with the Company D, 341st Infantry Regiment. He was a former employee of the Board of Public Works for 15 years and also worked for the West End Beverage Co for a year. 24 April 1919 -- Born in Willimantic, Connecticut, Francis E. ARBOUR was the 2nd of 4 children of machinist Joseph-Amedee ARBOUR and his wife Alexina PELLETIER. When Francis enlisted in the Army on 15 March 1941, he was noted to be 5' 6" tall, weighing 127 pounds. Little is known of his service during WWII, but after the war, Francis returned to Connecticut, married, and raised a family. Francis wed Carolyn L. VACCA in about 1948. Their daughter Francine was born the following year. Next came3sons through 1956. The family lived in New London, CT, during the early 1950s. However, by 1957 and through the 1960s, they lived in Mystic,CT, where Francis was a guard with the E B Company. Francis was just shy of his 56th birthday when hedied in West Haven, CT, on 26 March 1975. Just 3 months after his death, Carolyn married Lawrence H. PONT on 17June 1975 in Stonington, CT. Lawrence died on 19 January 2003; Carolynwas still living in their home in Pawcatuck, CT, at the time. Francis and Carolyn are known to have 2 grandchildren.

Westerly -- Raymond L. Arbour Sr, 71, of 25 Clark St, formerly of Mystic, died Sunday at Pendleton, after a lengthy illness. He was born 16 Jan 1921 in Willimantic, the son of Armedee and Alexina Pelletier Arbour.He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving with the 350th Infantry. Mr. Arbour married Evelyn Cerasoli on 15 Feb 1947, in St Patrick's Church, Mystic. He had been employed as an expediter at Electric Boat for many years,before moving to Bradenton, FL, where he worked as a bottlemaker for the Tropicana Co. Mr. Arbour moved to Westerly in 1989. He was a member of the Hoxie Engine Company of Mystic and the Hugo Simonelli Post 3263, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Mystic. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons,Raymond L. Arbour Jr and Carl Arbour, both of Pawcatuck, Gary Arbour of Huntington Station, Long Island, anf Kevin Arbour of Bradenton, FL; one sister Mildred Reid of Westerly; six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Reid; a sister, Doris Donath; and brothers, Raymond and Francis Arbour. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Gayle and her husband, Joseph Misto, of Westerly, RI, Charlene and her husband, Daniel Pease, of Waterford, Sheryl Reid, of Tampa, FL, Deborah and her husband, Andrew Benkert, of Equality, AL; a son, Christian Reid, of Camp Hill, AL; grandchildren, Joseph "Jay" Misto and his wife, Kara, of Lincoln, RI, Holly Misto and her husband, and Scott Quaratella, of Westerly, RI; two great-grandchildren, Everett and James Misto; and also by several nieces and nephews. Cloyd Lund dies of injuries received at Air Force Base in Spain. Guneral services have been set for Saturday at 1:30 pm in theGunnison LDS Chapel, underthedirection of Bishop LaMar Larson. Friends may view the remains at the home of the parents in Clarion, Sanpete, Utah Friday evening and until time of services Saturday. Staff Sergeant Cloyd Ivan Lund,27, died at a US Air Force Base in Madrid, Spain, 29 October of injuriesreceived while performing maintenance duties on an automobile, according to word received by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lund, his parents in Gunnison,the following day. Details of the accident, as well as arrangement forbringing the remains to Gunnison for funeral services and burial were to follow by letter, it was stated inthe telegram received by the parents. Cloyd was born in Gunnison, 17 January 1932, a son of Ivan and Idonna Madsen Lund. He attended the local schooland graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, later attending Snow College at Ephraim. In Marchof1952, he enlisted in the United States Air Corps. He had served in Korea and various other bases prior to being assigned to the base in Spain. He had intended to make the service his career. He married Doris Arbour on 6 June 1958 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA. Survivors include his widow, residing in Massachusetts; his parents of Gunnison, and one sister, Carol Lund, of North Hollywood, California.

The office manager of Arrow Security Corp. in Springfield was killed and his 44-year-old daughter seriously injured when their car was hit by a stolen car driven by a 14-year-old boy at Dwight and Carew Streets around 6 p m yesterday. Police identified the victim as Raymond Arbour, 62, of 367 Broadway, Chicopee, a passenger in the car. Police said the driver was his daughter, Kathleen Godbout, 44, of 185 New Ludlow Road, Chicopee. She was listed in serious condition today at Baystate MedicalCenter suffering from broken ribs and internal injuries, a nursing supervisor said. Police said the youth was arrested at 2:26 am and charged with vehicular homicide and driving to endanger, leaving the scene of apersonal injury accident, and driving without a license. Traffic Bureau Capt. Francisco M. Basile said the accused youth, who lives at 264 Franklin St., went through a red light and struck the Godbout car "broadside." Basile said he later surrendered himself to police, coming into the station with his mother. Arbour's death was the seventh highway fatalityof the year in Springfield. Theyouth was to be arraigned today in Juvenile District Court. Because of his age, his name was not released. Police said the Godbout car was traveling west on Carew Street when it was struck by the southbound caron Dwight Street. Springfield firefighters responded to the emergency and assisted in removing the victim and Godbout. An autopsy was to be conducted later today at the office of Hampden County Medical Examiner Dr. Loren Mednick to determinethe exact cause of death. Jerome Wilder, a spokesman for the medical examiner, said Arbour died at Baystate of multiple injuries. John D. DeBarge, Arrow's security manager, said Arbour had been an auxiliary police officer for the city of Chicopee for many years. Arbour had been working for Arrow for thelast four years. His daughter, Kathleen, was also employed by the firm, as second shift operator, DeBarge said.

Gregory A. Arbour, 52, of 36 Allds St., Nashua, died Thursday, 13 Dec 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Arbour was born 16 Dec1948, in Nashua, son of Theresa (Caron) Somes of Manchester and the late Conrad Arbour. Mr. Arbour had been alifetime resident of Nashua. He began his career as an environmental coordinator for W.R.Grace Co. inNashua. After that, he was a supervisor at the Anheuser-Busch Recycling Center in Nashua. He then worked as a supervisor at Diacom in Amherst, andthen as a consultant for E&R Cleaners in Manchester. Most recently,due to his illness, hehad worked part time at Brookstone in the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua. Mr. Arbour enjoyed swimming and playing tennis,and at one time enjoyed playing billiards. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. He was also a lifeguard while in theArmy. Mr. Arbour was a 1966 graduate of Nashua High School. He received a bachelor's degree from New Hampshire College in 1977. Besides his mother, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Charlene Arbour of Litchfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharyl and Chris Kennedy of Westminster, CA, and Stefanie Arbour of Albuquerque, NM; two grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy Gagnon ofWestminster; two brothers, Anthony Arbour and Thomas Arbour, both of Manchester; three sisters, Marie Hurley of Nashua, and Angela Chasse and Margaret Roberts, both of Manchester; a step-sister, Carmen Young and her husband, Dr. James Young, of Hillsborough; and a special friend, Gloria Arbour of Merrimack; andseveral nieces, nephews and cousins. Manchester -- Police yesterday arrested Anthony Arbour, 49, of 33 Hall St., and charged him with possession of a narcotic drug with intentto distribute, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a prescription drugnot kept in its proper container, and felon in possession of a deadly weapon. Officers went to the Queen City Inn, 138 Queen CityAve., at about 6 yesterday morning to assist emergency medical personnel who hadresponded to a report of a possibleoverdose. Police said they found a man, later identified as Arbour, in the lobby. In conducting their follow-up investigation, officers were directed to a room with an open door. Police reported finding 44 pills of what is alleged to be the prescription drug Celexa, about78 grams ofcocaine, and drug paraphernalia. During the investigation, a knife was allegedlyfound in Arbour 's possession, leading to the felon in possession charge.

Anthony J. "Tony" Arbour, 55, of Manchester, NH, died at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester onSaturday 8 August 2009. He was born in Nashuaon 1 July 1954, a son of Therese (Caron) Arbour Somes of Manchester and the late Conrad Arbour.Hewas educated in Nashua and Manchester, NH. Tony had been employed for a short time by Keystone Hall in Nashua. He enjoyed motorcycling and all types of sports. He was a member of AA for many years and did some sponsoring for AA as well. In additionto his mother Therese Somes of Manchester, survivors include four sisters; Angela J. Chasse ofManchester, Marie Y. Hurley of Nashua, Margaret Roberts and her husband Jack of Manchester; and Carmyn Young and her husband James of Hillsboro, abrotherThomas J. Arbour of Manchester, an aunt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Services: Visiting hours will be held at the Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua on Tuesday evening from 5-8 pm. Friends are invited to attend. His funeral servicewill be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in StLouis Cemetery, Nashua. Tony was a man I am proud to have called a great friend.And what a great friend hewas....always giving selflessly of himself to others and wasalways there to lend a hand or ear. I was privileged enough to be invited to "the man room" in his house where the guys would sit around, watch thegameandsmokecigars....allgoodtimes and laughter!! He befriended my daughter as well and I'll never forget when she & I were at a yard sale and saw this little stuffed bear dressed up as a biker bear....we both looked at each other and said "We've got toget thisforTony!" We did and he loved it!! He did so much for so many...my only regret is that I did not know he was ill and get to say goodbye...but I am so glad he did not suffer and that he died sober....he was a huge power of exampletome and alwayswill be. I feel so priviged and honored to have had him in my life.

POLICE IDENTIFY VICTIM IN CRASH
Officials on Thursday identified a man who died after being struck by acarand a cement truck early Wednesday. Police said 54-year-old KennethArbour of Austin had been walking on an entrance ramp in the 1900 block of East Ben WhiteBoulevard when he was struck by a sedan attempting to enter the westbound lanes of Ben White from the frontage road. Arbourwas then hit by the truck, investigators said. He died at the scene at4:40am.
