Notes - BIOGRAPHIE-BIOGRAPHY: STEPHEN, Katherine, born in 1677 ou 1678, from Pemaquid (now Woolwich), Lincoln, ME, daughter of Thomas STEPHEN and MaryCASWELL or MERRY (Meray in Francoise's marriage record). She was made prisionner August 5th 1689 during the French and Abenakis attack of Pemaquid. Brought to Canada in captivity, she spent many years in a indianvillage where she was baptised (record lost) by a mission-priest undrethe name Marie-Francoise STEVENS. Around 1695, she was bought from theIndians by Nicolas PINEAULT, a Quebec City marchant, and became his domestic. She married Jacques PAQUET (b. 1675, s/o Maurice PAQUET & Franbcoise FORGET), a Quebec farmer on Aug. 1st 1697 (mar. Ct. Chambalon, 28-07-1697). The couple settled in La Canardiere (now a borought of Quebec City) where they raised 13 children between 1698 & 1722. In May 1710,Katharine STEPHEN obtained her french naturalisation. She died in Quebec City, June 5 1741. Her husband died March4 1764.
