  Henry Packer was a gardener. He migrated to Australia and left his wifeand 5 young children back in England with no money. He put his age back six years and stated he was single. He applied and was given a job as 3rd class attendant at Toowoomba Hospital for the Insane 23 rd March 1891 until 30th June 1931. He obtained a Mental Nursing Certificate in March 1915 and reached a position of Charge Attendant in 1929. In January 1931 he was demoted to Deputy because his work wasn,t up to standard. No wonder! He was in actual fact 76yrs old and not 67yrs as theythought.His job was terminated 30th June 1931.
