Arbour Ends Army Course
Army Specialist Five Ronald P Arbour, 22, son of Mr and Mrs Leopold Arbour of 1360 Rosewood Avenue, recently was graduated from the noncommissioned officer academy at Bad Tolz, Germany. Regularly assigned as a guided Missile propellant supervisoratthe Fischbach US Army Ordnance Depot, he received four weeks of refresher training in map reading, combat tactics, and leadership. He enlisted in the Army in July 1955, and arrive in Europe in January 1957. Arbour, whose wife Gerlinde is with him in Germany, in a 1955 graduate of Draper High School.

RONALD ARBOUR SR
Rotterdam -- Ronald P. Arbour Sr, 54, of Barton Avenue, died yesterday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Schenectady, Mr. Arbourhad lived in Rotterdam most of his life. He was employed as adesign engineer for the New York Telephone Coin Schenectady for more than 24 years. Mr. Arbour served in the Army as an explosive specialist from 1955to 1961 and was stationed in Fischbach, Germany. He was a memberof Bellevue Reformed Church, theBPOE Elks Lodge 2157, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the New York Telephone Pioneers, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Gerlinde Salzmann Arbour, whom he married 6 Sep 1958; a son,Ronald P. Arbour Jr, of Utica; a daughter Mrs. Katherine Arbour-Paish of Vancouver, British Columbia; his parents Ruth and Paul Arbour of Rotterdam; two sisters, Mrs. Dolores Fonda and Mrs. Ruth Menia, both of Schenectady; and three grandchildren. The service will be at 11 am Wednesdayat the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Schenectady Memorial Park. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 pm tomorrow at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Heiderberg Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue Reformed Churchor the American Cancer Society.

26 May 1936 -- Born in Schenectady, New York, Ronald P. ARBOUR was one of 3 children of laborer Pierre-Paul-Leopold ARBOUR and his wife Ruth E. JOHNSON. Having grown up in Rotterdam, NY, with his 2 sisters, Ronaldopted to see a bit of the world andsubsequently joined the Army. He then served as an Army explosive specialist from 1955 to 1961, during which time he was stationed in Fischbach, Germany. Hemet and later married his wife, 22-year old Gerlinde SALZMANN, in Germany on 06 September 1958. Ronald and Gerlinde had 2 children, Ronald Jr. and Katherine, returning to New York sometime around their births. Ronald was then employed as a design engineer for the New York Telephone Co in Schenectady formore than 24 years. He died in Schenectady on 07 April 1991. Gerlinde was known to still be living in 2008. It isunknown if they have any grandchildren.
