• Notes

  Richard was the only one of Abraham's children to become a farmer andlived with him at Lane Farm in Worrall for most of his life. Hemarried Elizabeth and had one son Thomas Edward. When his fatherretired in 1851, he transferred ownership of the farm to Richard,probably expecting him to carry on the farming tradition in the area,but in 1862 Richard died aged 45.All hope of keeping the farm in the family was lost when grandsonThomas Edward also died just three years later aged 5.They are both buried in St Nicholas churchyard, Bradfield. Theinscription reads :Sacred to the memory of Richard Jackson of Worrall Departed this lifeDecember 6th 1862 aged 45 yearsAll ye that come to see this stone/ To think how quickly I wasgone/Death does notalways warning give/ Therefore be careful how you live/Repent in time make no delay/ For I was quickly called awayAlso Thomas Edward only son of the above named Richard and ElisabethJackson who departed this life March 18th 1865 Aged 5 yearsHe's gonethe one we loved so well/ To his eternal rest/ He's gone toheaven we have no fear/ He is forever blest
