Notes - Laurette Guerrette Arbour
1925-2014 Laurette Guerrette Arbour, 88, of Augusta, formerly of the Bath -Brunswick area, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2014, after a lengthy illness at the Gardiner Alzheimer's Care Center. Shewas born on April 28, 1925,in Madawaska, the daughter of Elizabeth andFortunat Guerrette. She was the 14th of 17 children. By 1936, all of the family had moved to Augusta where Laurette was educated at St. Augustine School. She was a graduate of Cony High School. On Sept. 2, 1946,she married Lucien Rosaire Arbour, of Augusta. Together they raised foursons. Laurette worked for the state of Maine as a secretary. In 1954 the family moved to Bath. While living in Bath Laurette was first employed as a retaildepartment clerk aswellas an office worker for the United Way. She later was employed as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk by Stone and Webster who built the Yankee Power Plant in Wiscasset. Upon completion of Yankee Power Plant she went to work at the Brunswick NavalAir Station as an office manager for the recreation department overseeing and scheduling many events. In the early 1980s, Laurette and Lucien moved to Topsham, Maine, where they enjoyed their retirement. After Lucien's death in 1989 Laurette movedback toAugusta where she resided until 2009. For the past four and a half years she resided at the Alzheimer's Care Center, where she was cared for by a loving, compassionate staff who became like family to her. The family wishes to extend their heartfeltgratitude for the wonderful care provided at the center. She was predeceased by all of her brothersand sisters, her husband Lucien R. Arbour and a son Gerald Arbour in 1969. She is survived by three sons Raymond and wife Diane Arbour, of Chelsea,Maine, Michael and wife Lynn, of Durham, Maine, andJohn Patrick and wife Cathi, of Durham, Maine, seven grandchildren: Raymond G. Arbour (Lindsay) Windham, Maine, Gregory J. Arbour and Steven L. Arbour, both of Denver, Colo., Jason M. Arbour, of Sabattus, Maine, Jennifer Crocker, of Lisbon, Maine, Stephenie Cheney (Pete), of Alna, and Brendon Glass, of Bangor and Durham, Maine, and 10 great-grandsons. Visitation will be from 9to10 a.m. on Monday at PlummerFuneral Home, 16 Pleasant St.,Augusta,ME. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bath.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Care Center,Dresden Avenue, Gardiner, ME. Garden and Activities Fund.
