• Notes

  All that is known about Marie arriving in the Yukon, is that she went from Montreal to the Yukon during the summer of 1918, looking for an uncle. She had been told that he was the Mayor of the town and the richestguy in town. When she got to Minto,Yukon, she found that he was the only guy in town so therefore he was the Mayor and the richest guy there. In the fall of that year, she decided not to spend the winter in Minto so she travelled to Whitehorse. When she was trying to buy a train ticket for the trip back home to Quebec, she met Antoine. Marie could notspeak English and Antoine was found to do the translating. They were married 5 days later. When she died in 1970, she still spoke very little English. When we went to visit her shecould not even talk to us, she would just get us our treats and smile alot.[RayCYR]
