- NEW BEDFORD ? Irene M. (Lemerise) Nadeau, 110 years of age, of New Bedford, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the S.E. MA Health & Rehab (formerly the Mariner). She was the widow of Thomas J. Nadeau and daughter of the late William and Margaret (Galvin) Lemerise. She was born April 25, 1897, in Stanhope, Canada and has lived in New Bedford since 1914. She was formerly employed as a cashier at the Shawmut Diner. Mrs. Nadeau was a great fan of the former Boston Braves and an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed reading and knitting.
Survivors include her son, Ernest E. Nadeau and his wife Eleanor of Martinez, CA; three daughters, M. Claire Freitas of New Bedford, Dorothy L. Sperling of Westport, and Margaret A. Tumeinski and her husband Ronald of Shrewsbury; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves her extended family at the S.E. MA Health & Rehab and her very close friend, Tim Lyons.
