6143 By 1837, Alexandre and Josephte seem to have moved into the big city ofMontreal, as that is where their son Alexandre was born. The family possibly moved there as early as 1825. During the Census of1825, they were not recorded as living in either L'Assomption or St Sulpice. It is unknown when or where they died.

It is THOUGHT that the death/burial information belongs to THIS Alexandre. However, in said record, he was noted as having been 77-years old when he died, making him born about 1786. There was no mention of a spouse either living or dead.

Bio from Facebook 19 Mar 2010:
19 March 1801 -- Born in St Sulpice, QC, Alexandre ARBOUR was one of 16children of farmer Pierre ARBOUR and Therese DALBEC-BELAIR [who are myg-g-g-g-grandparents - :]. Alexandre stayed nearby when he married Marie-Louise-Josephte DUFAULT in L'Assomption, QC, on 08 January 1822. Thecouple eventually had 10 children, 5 daughters and 5 sons. Throughout at least 1832, they lived in L'Assomption but moved to the big city of Montreal by 1837, as that is when their son Alexandre wasborn there. The elder Alexandre was 62-years old when he died in Montreal on 02 September 1863, and was buried there the next day. It is unclear when or where Josephte died, but she was known to be living during the Census taken in March 1881. They are confirmed to have left 41 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 48 great-great-grandchildren, and 38 great-great-great-grandchildren, including the very famous Louise ARBOUR, who was formerly both a Canadian Supreme Court Justiceand the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights.

SUDDEN DEATH TAKES WOMAN -- Mrs. Eugene Arbour Is Victim
Mrs. Eugene Arbour, 64, 605 North Evergreen Avenue, and affectionately known in that neighborhood as "Mother" Arbour, died suddenly Saturday night about 9:30 o'clock at her home. The cause of death, according to the belief of a coroner's jury, was high blood pressure and hardening ofthe arteries. Her husband, testifying at the inquest conducted by Coroner Octave J. Cartier this morning, stated that Mrs. Arbour had gone tobed early, apparently in her usual health. About 9 o'clock she arose and went to the kitchen and on her return was seized with a sudden attack of weakness and dropped into a chair. Aroused By Noise -- He heard unusual sounds, he stated, and arose, helping her back to bed. As she laydown she became unconscious and failed to respond to his attempts to revive her. He called in Joseph Cote, 580 North Evergreen Avenue, who arrived just as the aged woman was breathing her last. Dr. H. W. Bundy, 629 South Harrison Avenue, was called, but too late. Albert Guertin, 605North Evergreen Avenue, a son by a former marriage, stated that his mother had been suffering from hardening of the arteries and high blood pressure. The daughter of Edward and Philomene Fortin, she was born in St Anne on 25 September 1867, and was was married to George Guertin in 1884. He died in 1893 and four years later she was married to Eugene Arbour. Funeral Tuesday -- Besides her husband and the son Albert, she leaves another son - Alvin Guertinof Beaverville, two brothers - Louis andEdward of Hazelcrest, and three sisters - Mrs. Elmer Wilson of Bonfield, Mrs. Leah Colligan of Palatine, and Mrs. Bert Parady, 207 Vanderwater Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning from the Hickey Funeral Home and burial will be in St Anne Cemetery.

6149 By the time of the 1900 Census, only 9 of George and Sophie's 10 children were still living. Who are the other children? Did they come to the US, too? It would figure that they did because George and Sophie had only been married for 17 years when they immigrated so their oldest childwas probably no more than 16- or 17-years old and too young to be leftin Canada.

According to the 1920 Census, George was born in New Hampshire, which we know to be an error, as the family didn't move to the US until the late 1850s at best and seemingly George himself didn't immigrate until 1872.

Is our Georges-Guillaume also known as William Louis ARBOUR? If so, he had the following children: John ARBOUR, b 1872 Worcester, MA; CarolineARBOUR, b 1874 Worcester, MA; and George ARBOUR, b 1878 Worcester, MA.

--> Even though other sources mention 1872 as the immigration date for this family, they all appear in the 1870 Census, living in Burlington, VT.
