5243 Joseph Albert Oscar ROBERT, Albert (I82897)

5244 Joseph and Marguerite had 10 children, six daughters and four sons. Sometime after their last child, Rachel, was born in 1852, the family moved to Connecticut. This seems to have been before 1857, as that is when daughter Zoe married in Putnam, Connecticut. Also, sometime after Rachel was born, Marguerite died. Did she die after they had moved to the United States? Or did the family move after her death so they might get anew start in new surroundings? One thing is clear, Marguerite does notappear with the family in the 1860 Census in Windham County, Connecticut, so she had apparently diedby then.

ARBOUR, Joseph (I1257)

5245 Joseph and Virginie had 14 children, although only four of them lived into adulthood. In 1871, Joseph was a farmer in St-Emelie-de-l'Energie, Quebec, alongside many of his brothers. The family was still living there in 1881, in 1891, and in 1901. In 1901, they owned an eight-room house plus five outbuildings on 303 acres. They also rented a two-room house to their son Joseph and his family.

Joseph and Virginie became godparents to 10 family youngsters: nephew Joseph-Louis ARBOUR in January 1867, niece Virginie ARBOUR in October 1867, and nephew William ARBOUR in October 1868, all of whom were baptised in St-Jean-de-Matha, as well as nephew Alfred ARBOUR in April 1870, nephew Joseph HOULE in April 1872, niece Marie ARBOUR in November 1874, great-niece Anne BEAUDOIN in September 1890,granddaughter Parmelia ARBOUR in October 1893, grandson Raoul LeFRANCOIS in September 1900, and great-nephew Robert Henri LASALLE in August 1911, all of whom were baptised in St-Emelie-de-l'Energie. Joseph also witnessed four family funerals: son Louis Napoleon died in February 1872, son Edouard Henri died in January 1886, and granddaughters Anna ARBOUR and Rosianne ARBOUR both died in February 1897.
