Your affectionate brother, Charles," dated Port Severn, 27 April 1896. ___ TAY SOLON DIES, PINNED UNDER TREE Pinned under a tree he was cutting in a bush in sub-zero weather near Port Severn, Charles Arbour, 73, of Waubaushene, Tay Township councillor, was found dead by neighbors around 7 pm last night. Prov. Cons. Jack Shepherd, who investigated, said Mr. Arbour went alone to Pratt's bush,on the old Port Severn Road, in the morning to cut cordwood. When he did not return home at 5 pm, a neighbour, Harry Walker, and his two sons, Russell and James, went searching for him. Mr. Arbour was found lyingon the ground with a tree about 8" thick and 25' long lying across hisstomach. The aged man had apparently had his noon meal for embers werestill smouldering in the wood fire on which he had cooked his dinner. It is believed the accident happened between 3 and 4 pm. Dr. G. Brown, Coldwater, and Dr.D.C. Swan, Midland Coroner, were of the opinion that Mr. Arbour had frozen to death when he was unable to free himself, Cons. Shepherd told this paper. It is not known yet whether or not an inquestwill be held. Member of a well-known Waubaushene family, Mr. Arbour is survived by his wife and several brothers and sisters. 5039 | In Sep 1989, Arthur and Monique purchased a home in Broward County, FL,from Jean AUGUST. On 17 Apr 1998, it was determined in the Court of Broward County, FL, that Arthur's estate was not subject to Florida State Tax, as he was an Out-of-Country resident at time of death. www.honneur-memoires.com -- excerpted 18 Aug 2010 ARTHUR ARBOUR Born 3 February 1930 in Montreal, Arthur was the third in a family of 5children. His father Jean and his mother Juliette Picard had Jean, Fleurette, Arthur, Andrée, and Normand. At the age of 12, Arthur lost his mother to cancer. While hisfather doeur Mis - e recsaole?ees18 Rivitab»«tab»evoted all his time to his work, Arthur found himself practicallyfacing life on his own. At 14 years old, an unhappy accident in a factory deprived him of his right hand. After a long stay of several monthsinthe hospital, he triedbyany means necessary to provide for his needs. He worked for a religious community in Longueuil, went to the Northern Coast to work there as logger, and on occasion, joined his father as house painter. Working, honest, generous, and of enthusiastic nature, at 28years old he decided to spend a few days of holidays in St-Gabriel-de-Brandon with some friends. He then met his future wife, Monique Dextradeur. After one year of frequent travel between Montreal and Drummondville, theylinked their destiny on 5 September 1959. Being a natural leader and entrepreneur, Arthur started his own house painting company a few years after his marriage. Monique brought invaluable help to him bytaking care of the family budgetas wellas the accountancy of the company. From their union, were born Guy (1961), Denis (1965), and Chantal (1972). Arthur built himself his first house in Longueuil in 1964, wherethe family will remain for more than 23 years. During the summer of1979,after several health issues, he decided to take some down time to make a trans-America car trip. During these 5 weeks, he discovered the pleasure of camping and of getting to know his children. After a break ofa few months, he decidedtoact aspromoter and manufacturer of new houses. He built apartments in Longueuil and St-Hubert andthereafter developed several streets in St-Basile-le-Grand by setting up single-family houses. To show trust in his new city, he moved hisfamilythere in 1987. Arthur retired in 1993, after havingbuilt a house for each one of his children. He appreciated time spent with his grandchildren Sophie, Caroline, and David. It was not rare to see him sitting on the ground doing puzzles withthem or taking them along tothe park. His grandchildren were source of pleasure and pride. Unfortunately he did not get to know his other grandchildren Alex, Maxime, William, and Emile. Arthur liked todiscuss current events and tobeinformed on new ideas and trends. He knewhowto transmit the values ofwork, perseverance, positivism, and honesty to his children. For him, work was a fundamental value but when itwas time to have fun and benefit from the fruit of his labour,he likedto have fun while not forgetting to sharewith his family which wasso important to him. Having a taste for adventure, he had the privilege toshare several voyages in company of his dear Monique. Arthur was an imposing man, proud and equipped with great generosity. His love oflife was morecharacterized him particularly. On 30 June 1997, at 67 years ofage, he lost the battle against cancer, leaving a great vacuum in his family. However, he will remain always present in the hearts and the memories of those who liked and had the privilegeto know him. In "The History of Heathrow" there is a photograph of a tudor timber framed thatched farmhouse half of which was occupied in 1935by MissHarbour and Miss Hickmott. These two ladies supported Heathrow Mission Hall. This may well be the lady Aunt Elsie remembers as having visited in 1917 in a pony & trap along with my mother Ivy Ethel. Although efforts have been madeto identify Miss Hickmott, the only one likely in the 1881 Census is a Jane Hickmott working as a servant for the family of Richardsons in London. 5046 | In the summer of 2002, Rena was coming out of church when she fell, broke her arm, and injured her face. She had just healed from those injuries when she fell at home and broke both her hips on 6 Nov2002. She had healed enough to return homeby the first week in April 2003. From daughter Marilyn via email on 10 Oct 2007: Yesterday in the early morning hours Mom went to get out of bed to get to the bathroom and shefell. She fractured her right shoulder and also got a few black and blue marks. They put her arm in a bigsling and that is to be on for 4-5 weeks and then therapy for a few weeks after that. That seems to be all they can do for that kind of an injury. To top it all off she was coming down with a cold the day before this all happened and today she hardly had any voice left. Hope tomorrow will be a better day! From daughter Marilyn via email on 05 Mar 2008: Just wanted to fill youin about Mom -- She is ok but has failed some since her last fall in Oct. I am still spending time there everyday to help her, especially with her daily personal care. From daughter Marilyn via email on Saturday 16 May 2009: Mom has faileda lot this past winter. Her bad knee is really acting up so is findingit really hard now to get in and out of the van. As a result she does not go out very often. Nothing can bedone with her knee at her age so tries to carry on as is. This ageing process is hard to deal with and we do not have any control over it. From daughter Marilyn via email on 12 Mar 2010: We are all keeping pretty good. It seems to take me longer now looking after Mom each day; shecertainly does not move around like she had been. Her bad knee gives her problems now more so thanbefore and her hearing is also worse. However, we just take things one day at a time. We still have Red Cross in one morning a week and she has had the same girl for some time which is good. Lawrence is doing well and between the two of us are looking after things ok. Peter is right ready to help with anything either there orhe is a big help to me at home and I really appreciate that. From daughter Marilyn via email on 18 Aug 2010: Thanks for the picture of the boys on the first day of school. They sure have grown. We will print off a picture for my mother as I never know when shewill get up tosee it. She does not move very farfrom home now it seems, always more comfortable at home. I know her bad knee has been bothering her more now and she finds it hard getting in and outof the van when we have to take her for her doctor appointments. From daughter Marilyn via email on 21 Aug 2010: Regarding my mother's name . . . She was called Eliza Laurena and that was her mother's wish that she be, but some of the younger ones in the family atthe time couldnot seem to get the whole thing together and they called her "Rena" and the name stuck. Everything regarding business though she is Eliza Laurena. Anyway, that is the simple story of how that came to be. Take care, Marilyn From Rena in person on 16 Sep 2010: Rena never got to go out on Halloween (her birthday) because she was always helping the younger kids, "putting on faces." From daughter Marilyn via email on 30 Oct 2010: Just a quick note to let you know that my mother went into hospital on Thurs and is not very well. It seems her whole system is shutting down. She fellin mid-Sept and it really did shake her upand shestarted to fail and somewhat quicklyafter that. She just seemed to give up on so much and then was not eating. When we went last night again to seeher she had much better color and with the oxygen and IV it was helping. She has beensleeping a lotand by the evening she is very tired so we just go to make sure everything is ok. At this point that is all we can do and they are keeping her comfortable. I was talking to Shirley yesterday and I do not know if shewas going tobe in touch with you ornot. I will try to keep you up on the news. Sorry to be late getting this news to you but have not been home much. Hope all is well with all the family. Marilyn From nephew John O'HARA via email on 30 Oct 2010: Aunt Rena is in hospital. Tom says he thinks she fell recently. Marlyn told them just keeping her calm. She is 99 years old tomorrow 10/31. Dad From daughter Marilyn via email on 02 Nov 2010: Just a quick note to let you know that my mother passed away early this am. She had been in the hospital for five days and seemed to pick up a little and then reallyfailed fast. She had her 99th birthday on Sun 31 Oct and did know the people that had stopped in to see her. Lawrence called Shirley and Tom this morning and we were not sure if they would e-mail you or your father, so please pass the word along to him for us. Mom's funeral mass ison Friday. I will be in touch later. Take care.
