It would appear as though Joseph and Georgiana left Perce at some pointbetween 1891 and 1900, probably moving to Duluth, MN, for a time. However, they seem to have left behind their son Stanislas, as he was adopted by a local family by 1901. Perhaps both Joseph and Georgiana died and that is why their children were farmed outto others.

Bio from Facebook on 02 Jun 2010:
02 June 1860 -- Born in Perce, Quebec, Joseph-Octave ARBOUR was the eldest of 5 children of fisher Michel ARBOUR and his wife Christine SWEENEY. Joseph also carried on the family tradition by becoming a fisher in his seaside village. On 05 February1883, Joseph married Georgiana PRETEAU, who appears to have only been 11 ½ at the time of their wedding, having been born on 26 August 1861. She had her first baby one year later at the age of 12 ½. In today's lingo, one might say, "WOW!" Eventually, Georgianabore 5 children - one daughter and 4 sons - at least 3 of whom are known to have reached adulthood. Around this timeJoseph and Georgiana left Perce some time between the birth of their youngest in July 1892 and June1900, probably moving to Duluth,MN, for a time. However, they seem to have left behind their son Stanislas, as hewas adopted by a local family before March 1901. Son Michel was adopted by June 1900. Perhaps both Joseph and Georgiana died and that is why their children were farmed out to others. Although Stanislas fathered 2children, neither seems to have survived childhood. Therefore, there seem to be no descendants for this particular ARBOUR line. | ARBOUR Octave (I4077)

Bio from Facebook 11 Feb 2010:
11 Feb 1886 -- Joseph Isidore ARBOUR was born in New Hartford, Connecticut, as the second son of Francois-Xavier ARBOUR and Mary E. STRIDE. Francois-Xavier had emigrated from St Raphael, QC, just 5 years earlier in order to take advantage of the many opportunities afforded by Canada's neighbor to the south. Joseph married Mary E. O'MEARA on 17 Mar 1909 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and they proceeded to have 3 sons over the next 6 years: Walter, Donald, and Robert. According to his WWI DraftRegistration, Joseph was tall with a medium build, brown eyes, and black hair. This man who worked as agrocer, a clerk, and a bartender seemsto have died young, as there is no trace of him after 1918 or 1919. | ARBOUR Joseph Isidore (I3357)

According to Serges BERUBES:I asked an aunt that likes to have her noseinto everythingand she tells me that the right spelling is Clairi. "Itis short for Claridin, a surname that was often used in the St Raphaelarea duringthat period." That name apparently also appeared onhis birth certificate.
On at least one occasion, Clairi was also known as Jean-Hector ARBOUR and Claridin ARBOUR. | ARBOUR Hector (I3228)

Michel and Louise initially settled down in St-Francois-du-Sud, where their first two children were born and baptised. Then, on 21 October 1754, before Notary N. C. L. LEVESQUE,Michel, along with brother-in-law Antoine PEPIN, purchased some land from Etienne BLUTEAU of St-Joachim, Quebec. This new property was located in St-Vallier, which is situated just down the road from St-Francois-du-Sud, in BellechasseCounty. On thissame day, Michel then exchanged his land in St-Francois-du-Sud for Antoine's part of the property in St-Vallier. Perhaps Michel's credit was not good enough for Mr. BLUTEAU but it rated just fine for Antoine. In any event, before the family movedthere the following year, Michel was the recipient in another land deal. On 17 August 1755, Marie-Anne MERCIER, Louise's widowed mother, gave all of her land in St-Francois-du-Sudto Michel, Louise, and all nine of Louise's minor brothers and sisters. Perhaps Michel and Louise also became guardians to her siblings. In any event, the family moved about one year later, signifying the arrivalof the ARBOURs in Bellechasse County and beginning a stronglegacy which continues there today. Micheland Louise eventually had 11 children, six daughters and five sons. Their whereabouts are unknown beyond about 1766, but they probably both passed away in Bellechasse County. --> Note the addition of new information regarding Michel's death.

Note from 04 May 2008: I have this Lise as the daughter of Abondance ARBOUR and Eunice MOLLOY. Is that correct?
From Denis ARBOUR via email on 04 May 2008: It matcheswhat I have in myfiles.
Note from 04 May 2008: This means that Eunice would have been 55 when she had Lise. ??? It is possible these days with a petri dish, but highly, highly unlikely in 1938. Is she perhaps a grandchild?I cannot findbaptisms when I need them. !!!
From Denis ARBOUR via email on 06 May 2008: OK. I'll say she is a grandchild. According to my notes from the cemetery, her name appears on thesame headstone as Abondance and Unice. Lucien and Laurette also appearon the headstone but clearly marked as "son" and "daughter". There is no such marking for Lise. I was clearly wrong about her.
Note from 08 Jun 2008: Do you agree with the Lise mix-up? How did we ever attach her to Abondance andEunice in the first place?
From Denis ARBOUR via email on 14 Jun 2008: Yes, I agree. I'm probably responsible for this mix-up. Lise appears on Abondance's headstone, which led me to believe she was his daughter.

To the family of Delina Fortin: I worked with Delina for several years. She was in charge of preparing my expense report (and making sureI gotmy cheques!) I always knewwhere I stood with Delina. She gave me heck if I lost an invoice and told me in no uncertain terms how I could improve my accuracy and timliness! Delina hada great sense of humour and always made me laugh. Shespoke to me with great affection abouther family. Even though I worked in Toronto and she in Ottawa, we had fun on our frequent phone calls and I always looked forward to seeing her when I was in Ottawa. Please accept my deepest sympathies. The thoughts and prayers of our Toronto staffare with you today.
